Re: Switch Waiting Room - Friendly Conversations While We Wait

I don't think there will be Switch exclusive content. It would be more work for fewer people. It would also seem out of place considering they haven't delivered all their promises yet. Even after that, I think the only legitimate kind of exclusive content are things that don't make sense elsewhere (...

Re: GameXplain: Super Mario Odyssey Discussion Brings Up Yooka-Laylee

I'm really not interested in Mario games as much, as they have often disappointed me with their low difficulty (and also the Mario universe is kinda silly to me). So I'm not sure what my opinion on Odysee will be if I get to play it. Either way, I agree to the critizism that YL feels very unpolished...

Re: Switch Waiting Room - Friendly Conversations While We Wait

Do you think maybe they'll have to resort to that eventually, especially since waiting for the update to Unity wasn't the big success they hoped it'd be? No, absolutely not. It's more like, you built a house, and then you find out every door is just a tiny bit too small for some reason. And now you...

Re: Switch Waiting Room - Friendly Conversations While We Wait

About collect-a-thon, I really dislike this term. If I want to play a game where all I do is collect, I'll get something like Cookie Clicker or play a fetch quest in some rpg. Games like Banjo or Crash have hazards and action, because stuff is meant to be earned. Part of the earning will be collecti...

Re: Switch Waiting Room - Friendly Conversations While We Wait

From my experience, porting works best if you build with ports in mind from the get-go. It's a bit like writing a long text on paper, and knowing you'll have to replace certain words with other words later. If you know this from the start, you'll avoid the words or mark the pages they appear on to e...

Re: Y-L ... disappointment

They made this game in literally less than two years. May 2015 was the kickstarter announce. April 2017 released. One month shy of two years. Small team focused on good gameplay. I consider this a success. They are also incredibly driven to fix the technical issues. How is everyone this upset? I im...

Re: Unique World Characters

I couldn't agree more. It's quite possible they wanted more. That's part of what makes it such a lost opportunity. Hopefully they will do another game in the future and take their time with that one.

Man, I'd so love to work on a platformer...

Re: Unique World Characters

Yes, I really think Playtonic either didn't have the budget or the time to add more variety. Or at least that's what I hope. Sometimes I get the impression that they also didn't care about the characters that much, given the excessive use of (often negative) self-awareness-based humor. The few chara...

Re: Unique World Characters

That's a great idea. Underwater characters would absolutely have improved GGG. Even just that narwhal on its own doing its rounds would have lived that place up by so much. I think the icy village on the hilltop was also a bit lacking. It could have had yetis who complain about how ugly the other ye...

Re: YL Switch Speculation Thread

The whining here has become unbearable. Curiously enough, things don't happen faster if you complain about them every other day, Piet. And spreading your misery won't make it go away, either. What could would be if you tried not focusing on Yooka-Laylee for a week or two. Because honestly, the game'...

Re: Unique World Characters

Your Tribalstack Tropics character ideas fit the world nicely. They could also have had a bug, like a scarab, or something to represent the tribespeople that isn't just cosmetic changes to the corplets. I mean, YL isn't only lackluster when it comes to characters to talk with, but the enemies are al...

Re: Funding the Next Game

I would not help fund a successor. The update improved some things, but I am not currently convinced PTG has what it takes to pull off an actual Banjo 3. They might get the storytelling right next time, I hope, but I fear that PTG lacks the resources to make a game as colorful and rich in variety as...

Re: POLL: Playtonic Kart Racer + Online Multiplayer

I may be a minority, but I really don't care about a YL kart racer. I didn't feel all that much of a connection to YL's cast, and so right now I don't see what a YL racer could offer that Mario Kart doesn't have. I don't want to just assume that a Playtonic racer will automatically be as good as DKR.

I felt his Banjo work was better. YL's music isn't worse in itself, but I miss environmental noises and you had a lot more variantions of a level's theme in the Banjo series than you do here.

Isn't that the one where you have to place some fruits in holes? You might not know that you can grab those fruits with Yooka's tongue to just drag them around.

I'm certainly not disagreeing there's this pirate theme, though. Which is cool, considering it's been a recurring theme in the DKC series and was even visible in BK & BT.

Sure. Whatever you say. I think this argument has become moot quite a while ago. You complained that Playtonic should be faster with their updates and then talk about some other newsletter instead. Whatever am I supposed to say here?
