Re: Spin-off graphic novel revealed!

The art style is a little too overly cutified for my taste, I would've preferred one closer to the game. But from what I've read on the campaign page I think Dave pretty much nailed the characters and their quirks, so this could be a fun read! (There are even some potshots at Rextro and his infamous...

Re: How many Kickstarter milestones are there left for Playtonic Games to complete?

Goals not met yet: - N64 shader (which is a Tonic) - Developer walkthrough - Orchestral score - DLC (free for backers) (Am I forgetting something?) There's one more thing: "Goin' old-skool! N64 shader mode plus a credits "GK Rap + Video" written by Grant Kirkhope" The video is a...

"Best Buy" will sell LRG's physical Nintendo Switch release!

From Limited Run Games' newsletter: Please be aware that a representative from Best Buy has approached us with interest in Yooka-Laylee. We want everyone to know now that there is a possibility of this release appearing in stores at Best Buy. Best Buy would put their order in during the same open pr...

Re: Yooka-Laylee on Switch through Limited Run Gammes

Phew! I did it as well! :D I pre-logged into Paypal and created a Limited Run account with pre-set delivery address to save some time. I even "trained" placing an order as quickly as possible by pretending to buy "Dust". :D Congrats to everyone who made it! Glad the discount code...

Re: Yooka-Laylee on Switch through Limited Run Gammes

Wow, this looks awesome! But limited to 3000 copies and early access for 64-bit backers...? Oh well, this makes me nervous! I really really want that edition but at this rate I'm wondering if waiting for the countdown to end and clicking the "buy" button asap is even enough to get one. I'm...

Re: Physical Nintendo Switch release by Limited Run Games!

I actually was waiting for this to happen (and it was the main reason I was watching Limited Run Games' E3 presentation yesterday). As a day 1 Kickstarter backer I own the physical PC version (which I beat in April 2017) and also received a digital download code for the Switch version. But I gave it...

Re: Yooka-Laylee's first anniversary!

But speaking of stretch goals, I saw someone in the comments section on the Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter page say that Grant Kirkhope apparently confirmed there was no longer going to be an orchestral soundtrack (which I'm not surprised about, as recording that would be so expensive, and I reckon they ...

Re: Switch Waiting Room - Friendly Conversations While We Wait

No, I haven't played it at all because I'm waiting for the Switch version. But I think it'd be hilarious if Yooka gets pants if you collect all the tonics . It's not all "tonics" that you need to collect, but... ah, just wait and see! ;) Think about Gobi's Valley and/or Treasure Trov...

Re: Switch Waiting Room - Friendly Conversations While We Wait

how would you guys feel about discovering Rare is making a new Banjo game? Excited? Skeptical? Irritated? How about a full HD remake of Banjo Kazooie? I'd wait and see. Retro Studios have taught us that it doesn't always take the original developers to create a great new entry to an established ser...

Re: My in-depth "review"/analysis of Yooka-Laylee

I agree. While your review was well-written, I think it lacked pointing out what you enjoyed about the game. Even if a game is complete garbage (which you say Y-L isn't) a good reviewer should always try to look for positive aspects - just like he should look for negative aspects of something he thi...

Is this the analysis you tried to link? https://mattyjohn.wordpress.com/2017/04/23/yooka-laylee-the-bear-er-chameleon-bat-are-back-i-guess/ I agree about that review fatigue by the way... I'm really glad I didn't read a single preview/review before beating the game myself - and I sometimes wish I wo...

Re: Update Impressions!

It's amazing how many things they fixed/improved and how close they paid attention to the complaints people had. I personally won't replay the game before the remaining stretch goals have been met (64 bit shader mode, orchestrated soundtrack, developer walkthrough, free DLC, YL rap inside the game) ...

Re: How would you have changed the story/ending sequence? [obvious SPOILERS]

5) Also, CHARACTER PARADE . WHY was this not in the game. Yesterday I finally beat Capital B and finished the game 100%. In the ending scene all (or at least most?) characters you met in the game joined Yooka and Laylee celebrating in Shipwreck Creek. Was this added by an update? Or did you mean so...

You aren't. ;)

Yeah, since I fell in love with Playtonic's witty humour during the last 2 years I also decided to play Yooka-Laylee in English. I might try the German localisation on my second playthrough, though.

Re: Rextro and kartos

Heh, funny. My main complaint with Kartos is that it's no challenge to reach the end of the track, but you have that secondary task thrown at you instead. I really hoped Kartos would be exactly like those old DKC mine levels, and was disappointed with him being just another mini game about collecti...
