Re: Y-L ... disappointment

They made this game in literally less than two years. May 2015 was the kickstarter announce. April 2017 released. One month shy of two years. Small team focused on good gameplay. I consider this a success. They are also incredibly driven to fix the technical issues. How is everyone this upset? I im...

Re: Yooka-Laylee: General Discussion Thread

Though it's here I'm starting to notice something... the NPCs in each world are either in every world (Trowzer, Vendi, Rextro, Kartos, Planker, and that skeleton girl I'm not sure the name of at the moment, that whole thing), the boss of the world, or there are similar "types" of that cha...

Re: Suggestions for the Sequel (potential spoilers)

Also, I have a hunch on what was "missing" from Yooka-Laylee worlds that we got in the BK games: "sectioned" worlds. In the games with bigger worlds like BT and DK64, the worlds main areas are divided into multiple areas or "sections" that are separated by tunnels, door...

Re: Suggestions for the Sequel (potential spoilers)

Glad you enjoyed the game, as did I! I agree whole-heartedly with your pints about character variation. One of the biggest problems with Yooka-Laylle in my opinion. I actually just did the math on this: Each Banjo-Kazooie world has anywhere from 2-5 unique enemies (with Mad Monster Mansion and Rusty...

Re: Most possible collectables without expanding?

Just completed unexpanded Glitterglaze Glacier on my second playthrough. I'll start my own list here with what I find. I'm basing this off of how many collectibles you can find in an unexpanded world with only the moves you've learned in that world and previous worlds. WORLD 1 -11 Pagies -121 Quills...

Re: No rap in the game?

We already have a character parade trailer and the rap is on YouTube. Sort of hope they patch some of this in, though it really comes down to what they feel works presentation-wise. I haven't played the game, so can't speak to how the intro/ending is. It was a very limited character parade, but I g...

Re: Most possible collectables without expanding?

I'm pretty sure I got like 12 pagies in Tribalstack Tropics before having to expand. You can also get four of the ghost writers, and 121 quills (possibly more if you have moves from later worlds). I know almost for sure that you can only get 4 pagies in the unexpanded World 5, which is kind of stran...

Re: No rap in the game?

The lack of a character parade was one thing that really bothered me for some reason. As a kid, I was always so excited to beat Banjo-Kazooie and watch the character parade. It was cool to me because it was almost like a highlight reel of your adventure and you got to see the names of characters who...

Re: Let's talk about Nuts & Bolts

Looking back, Nuts & Bolts wasn't a terrible game (despite the incredibly repetitive missions). It just isn't the kind of game Banjo fans wanted. Should have used different characters. I know everyone wants a new Banjo game, but I honestly couldn't care less. The magic of Banjo came from the tea...

Re: Mysterious sound in World 5

Pretty sure it's just ambient background noise. Like I said, you can hear the exact same sound when in Hiviry Tiwers near the World 5 book. Go listen for yourself

Re: Yooka-Laylee: General Discussion Thread

For those who have experienced it, what did you think about the game's ending sequence? Seemed a bit anti-climactic to me. Once you find 100 Pagies, you can go and immediately begin the final battle. I missed the ending "worlds" like the suspenseful times Hideout Helm challenge in DK64, or...

Re: Mysterious sound in World 5

Is it like a whistling sound that happens every five seconds or so? I always thought it was just the ambient background noises. You can hear it in the room in Hivory Towers with the World 5 book as well.

Re: DK64 / Yooka-laylee , difference

I agree with this 100%. One of my main issues with an otherwise amazing game. BT and DK64 did the big world format right. They kind of sectioned everything off iron ore easily digestable "rooms" and once you were done exploring one, you could move onto another (exceptions for worlds like G...

Re: The music was good, but not what I was expecting

I love both guys' music. However, I connect Wise with 2D platforming and Grant with the banjoesque 3D adventures for obvious reasons. I think letting Wise do the music for most of the 2D passages (minigames, Kartos) was the only plausible way to have both of them in one game, but I feel it still is...

Re: The music was good, but not what I was expecting

Music was AMAZING. David Wise did two of the boss themes, one of which is my favorite theme in the entire game (I.N.E.P.T. boss battle music is epic). He also did the ending theme (which is the old Jungle Challenge theme) and the Minecart segments. I didn't care for Steve Burke's mini-game music, bu...

How would you have changed the story/ending sequence? [obvious SPOILERS]

I just beat Capital B, and I have to say I absolutely loved this game. It's definitely a worthy new member of the Old-Rare-Collectathon family. As much as I loved it, however, some aspects of the game could have used some improvement, one being the overall story (another being level design, but that...

Re: Favorite World? [Potential World Name/Theme Spoilers]

It's tough to choose between Tribalstack Tropics and Galleon Galaxy because both are amazing! But I chose Tribalstack Tropics. What makes these two worlds great is that everything is separated into distinguishable "areas" so it's easy to remember where you've been and easy to decide where ...

Could you give me a general area of where to look? Do a spoiler tag just in case. I too had the same problem as you when trying to find the final quill in Tribakstack Tropics, but I finally found it. I'll point you in the right direction, but for anyone reading this, be warned that there are spoile...

Hm, good point. Never considered that Playtonic might have known this but left them in for that reason.

Cheating/breaking the game to skip segments...

I just wanted to bring this to the attention of the developers, and also the fans. There seems to be several areas in the game where the player can essentially "cheat" to bypass obstacles that they shouldn't be able to yet. There are sometimes pieces of scenery or thin ledges that can be u...
