Re: Rextro and kartos

Kartos grew on me a lot even though I didn't like the games as much at first. I am at the point where it's just really addicting to play world 3, 4, and 5's Kartos tracks. I actually wish there was a kartos menu to just keep playing them without going to their respective worlds. As for Rextro games,...

Re: Most possible collectables without expanding?

Can confirm that world 5 has only four available pagies. You can also get the normal ghost, the eater ghost, and the invisible ghost there before expanding. I'm currently unsure if the green one is there before expanding.

Re: Want to love it, but that camera!

I'm the opposite, I can't stand the auto-camera and instead I have my thumb on the camera moving it slightly 100% of the time. The camera is at its best when you keep it angled towards the ground and constantly moving to the side to counteract it from auto-scrolling behind you. Just press the jump b...

Re: Ideas for Yooka-Laylee DLC

I would like more difficult variations of many of the challenges in the game. I really enjoy Kartos, Rextro games, the bosses, and many of the other mini-games, but I wish they were harder and would last longer. I would love another minecart boss like INEPT that takes it to a whole other level (thin...

Re: Mysterious sound in World 5

Well the sound that occurs outside the book sounds like (space) seagulls to me. Inside the world I can definitely hear a tone that I believe is the lighthouse.

Re: Zero Punctuation review for Yooka-Laylee

I think a better solution is to let players fly around to their hearts' content once they get it, but to restrict just about every single collectible from being accessed through flight. The game largely already does this. For instance, the turbo tunnel homage has a random air duct blowing downwards,...

Re: The music was good, but not what I was expecting

I'm really digging Burke's stuff actually. Jobstacle Course is one of my favorite songs in the game. That piece feels straight from a game like DKC3 or something.

Burke has been with Rare since Microsoft, doing stuff for Kameo, Viva Pinata, etc.

Re: Yooka-laylee is better than bk,bt,dk64?

" I expected them to learn from the mistakes in DK64."

This is a claim of objectivity. You are implying that DK64's maps are mistakes. Playtonic themselves have acknowledged that the Rare fanbase seems to be split on favoring BK sized worlds and BT/DK64 sized worlds.

Re: Yooka Laylee difficulty. What do you think?

"because I attempted to roll around the logs he threw, which was made almost impossible because of the controls." Okay, wtf. I just fought Rampo for the second time and tried this and he is still quite easy. I didn't get hit once by the logs when I tried to roll around him on his first two...

Re: Yooka-laylee is better than bk,bt,dk64?

@FailureFactory You didn't write your post as if you personally prefer smaller worlds though. You literally said that DK64 was a bad game with objective mistakes and that Rare should have learned from that. You completely left out the part about how there are at least as many fans of smaller worlds ...

Re: The music was good, but not what I was expecting

I somewhat agree with the OP. I'm curious what you thought of Moodymaze Marsh's theme, though. I felt like that one was really catchy and could have been in the original games with its style. Cashino also felt very similar to me, and one of its variants (dance floor) reminded me heavily of some of t...

Re: Improvement Suggestions [SPOILERS]

I really agree with all of those suggestions. By the way you made a typo and said world "4" boss when you started talking about the boat battle. I personally think the final boss could have been much better, but it would have needed to be completely different. I really dislike that the bub...

Re: Yooka-laylee is better than bk,bt,dk64?

@FailureFactory Some of us don't find the DK64 level design to be flawed, speak for yourself. I find it quite strange that Zelda has been getting glowing reviews when it has one of the largest, most wide open and barren game worlds I've ever seen. YL's maps are basically the size of DK64's and Tooie...

Re: This game is amazing.

I'm right there with you. It's an extremely fun N64 era collectathon and I love it. There are virtually no serious issues for me and I cannot see the negatives that others are pointing out. It's especially strange that my personal criticisms are not the complaints I see from negative reviewers. Also...

Re: Gloomy Gem Grotto

Me and my friend both had it very easy in here. I think some peoples' issue is not jumping constantly and thus falling prey to the ice physics. You have much more control over the aerial roll than you might think. I've also seen people doing stupid stuff like riding the platforms before killing the ...

I would absolutely love to have various leaderboards in the same vein as Ori and the Blind Forest. That game has speedrun, completionist, and low death leaderboards that can be mixed and matched together.

Re: Yooka-laylee is better than bk,bt,dk64?

It might be too early to ask this without letting YL sit and bake for a bit. After all, we replayed Banjo/DK many times over when we were kids. However, I went ahead and said I prefer YL over the older games. The sheer variety and feel of the character is just plain better to me. I understand that t...

Re: DK64 / Yooka-laylee , difference

I have extremely good spatial memory so it's basically impossible for me to get lost, so this is a complaint that is just foreign to me. But I did enjoy YL's map design more than past Rare titles on average.
