Re: Happy birthday Playtonic! NEW UPDATE! NEW CHARACTER! :D

Kartos instantly reminded me of "The King" from Pajama Sam. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/humongous/images/e/e8/King_the_Mine_Cart.png/revision/latest?cb=20111119214443 Yes yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately thought this. They could be twins. Not that I expect a one-...

Re: Rare Revealed: Dream

This is so nice to finally see. My whole childhood I wondered about this mystery game, only ever seeing glimpses of blurry concept sketches and hearing rumors. Now we've basically seen every stage of its development! It feels great to be in the know after so long, and there were so many things from ...

Re: Microsoft to axe Lionhead Studios

I've always enjoyed the Fable series, despite the flaws of its sequels. I consider Lost Chapters to be one of my favorite RPGs of all time, so this news does leave a bitter taste. That said, this doesn't surprise me in the least. The moment Molyneux went the way of the buffalo, I knew Fable wasn't g...

Re: Young Conker

Whoever is currently in charge of the Rare properties at Microsoft might be some of the most backwards-thinking business people I've ever witnessed in action. This is possibly the single WORST thing they could have created after the Project Spark/Conker backlash. Rest assured this will either bomb o...

I hate to bump an old-ish thread, but I thought someone should mention the character redesigns are being done by Luigi Lucarelli, a member of this very forum!

Re: Found an edited image of the character design, really improves a lot IMO

Whether or not the edited design is any better is purely subjective. I don't consider either to be better than the other- I'm fine with what we've been shown. I think the artists and animators will have a much easier time making these characters emote if the designs are in their comfort zone. That s...

Re: Genders have NOT been revealed

The security question while signing up for this very forum- "Q: Who is the green bloke? A: Yooka." Excerpt from the Kickstarter page- "Our new heroes, Yooka (the green bloke with no pants) and Laylee (the wisecracking lady-bat with the big nose)" So there you have it. Unless Play...

If it happened, it could potentially spark the genre revival we've all been pining for. I'm all for it.

I'll still probably never buy a One, though. ):

Re: What do you want in a Ocean World?

Atmosphere, ambiance. A satisfying sense of underwater movement. Ethereal deep sea mystery accompanied by eerie yet soothing music. An energetic, sunny land or beach section for contrast. I'm a sucker for nautical themes, and as such Treasure Trove Cove and Jolly Roger's Lagoon hold some of my favor...

Re: Suggestion: Make Yooka Female

I think it's nice that the designs are switched up. At a glance, Yooka appears female, and Laylee you'd expect to be male, but that's just not how it do. A shift in expectation can be healthy when it comes to character design.

Let's just roll with it.

Re: Just a thought, invoked by one of the comments on the kickstarter page (nostalgia)

Considering the number of times I've replayed both Banjo and Tooie for the game design alone, no. I wouldn't say it was only out of nostalgia. In fact I'd say a lot of games today are lacking in many ways, and are more prone to tedium and unoriginality. No beloved genre should ever die off for fear ...

Re: Star Fox Adventures was awesome.

I completely agree. I played the hell out of that game as a kid, and I remember every nook and cranny of the adventure. Admittedly, it would have worked just fine had it remained 'Dinosaur Planet' and not slapped on the Star Fox name, but I don't think any less of it for doing so. I think it's a bla...

I see that, too. If I'm honest, I'd be happy with their designs either way. It's their personalities that really shine through for me. (:

Re: Things that you DO NOT want in this game.

There's definitely that, then there's the fact the game is only in alpha. There aren't any footstep effects that I can hear, beyond a landing after each jump. But I'll be sure to withhold any judgement of the sound design (or anything, really) until further notice. Again, that is very impressive for...

Whoa, Luigi Lucarelli is a member here? Your work is inspiring, man! I seem to recall you had a video game project a while back, is Leo's Forest still on the table? Really excited for A Hat in Time, as well! (I think you did designs for that?) I'll try to make some fan art to post here down the line...

Oh wow, I hadn't heard their voices before now! This footage also helps to qualm my camera zoom worries. As expected, sound effects are pretty sparse, but I'm sure there will be more as time goes on. Thanks for showing that. (:

Re: Yooka needs some clothes

I mentioned in my first post here that I think a little shirt would greatly benefit Yooka's design. Not because I think he's lacking- but because I think it would serve as a great homage to Banjo's "shorts only" motif.
