Re: Playtonic Universe - Problem?

Yes, the Playtonic Universe will be the same style of characters as Banjo/DKR/DK64. While Rare had Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, those teams had a lot of developers who aren't in Playtonic (except for Kirkhope's music). The Banjo Team is a better representation of the type of guys who are working in t...

One year of Playtonic Forums!

Hey everyone, it's been pretty nice talking with you over the past year and getting hyped over the future of Playtonic.

I hope your year has been great, and here's to an even better one starting right now!

Re: Five worlds for Yooka-Laylee, and my concern about them

The kickstarter mentioned "more than 5 distinct worlds." I'm expecting there to be a 6th bonus or miniworld at the end.

Bayliss goes permanent!

Between the talents working on music, programming, environmental design, and art, Playtonic is looking more and more like a force to be reckoned with.

Re: Two Hearts! Joinin’ in our game grind…

A Crash Bandicoot fan! That's a nice spin on things, especially with Yooka-Laylee's release on the Playstation. She can hopefully help with all those strange X's, Circles, and Triangles. I wonder if she ever played Banjo.

Ross seems to be responsible for QA testing Canary Mary. I wonder what his strategy was for the cheato page.

Re: So, about "Playtonics" and the 4th Wall...

The inclusion of "Playtonics" and "Arcade Machines" are inherently alien to their universe, so I only hope Playtonic [Games] are keeping their eye on the ball for the rest of the gameplay and avoiding the pitfalls of Conker and Nuts & Bolts.. It's still early to see what the...

Re: Thoughts on the £2M DLC

Starcraft was a horrible example because yes lmao you can't even play online without Brood War and you'll be missing every balance patch and a majority of the story. I'm on the side in favor of DLC but, whew that was a wide miss. It's also an expansion, not DLC. Viva Piñata TIP would actually be cl...

Re: Thoughts on the £2M DLC

I keep watching this thread hoping it will come to some sort of conclusion but I'm beginning to think that won't happen. The conclusion came in May when Playtonic confirmed the DLC as a stretch goal. :) I feel like the decision is made, but the discussion can go on forever. George Lucas made the de...

Re: Thoughts on the £2M DLC

Being blanket-opposed to DLC is completely stupid. Sorry to be so blunt, but it is. DLC has been done right tons and tons of times, you might know them as expansion packs . For more modern examples look to Skyrim's Dragonborn, Farcry 3's Blood Dragon, or New Super Luigi U. Or frankly the new tracks...

Re: Thoughts on the £2M DLC

I really like the idea. I'm not a fan of DLC for such a small studio because its development directly takes time away from the next game. If DLC is going to be made, it should forever be part of the game for everyone who owns it. I hate the idea of Yooka-Laylee having two different versions, one mor...
