Re: [SPOILERS] Galactic Girl (Playtonic's Next Game?)

I would prefer Yooka-Laylee 2, especially since there is absolutely no scarcity of third person shooters. Even using a comic style, Insomniac is doing basically nothing else. If they make a game starring her, I hope it is not a JFG sequel.

Re: Early reviews

I'm a phd student in computer science, so no, the programming is no problem (besides the obvious thing of getting used to programming for a 3d video game, which requires some math that is not used in what I usually do in computer science). But what is more of a problem is always thinking about perfo...

Re: Early reviews

I have to disagree with 3D platformers being a particularly simple genre to get right with Unity. 2D games are much more easily made with Unity. It is not a particularly high hurdle technically, to make a 3D platformer in Unity (it is really an engine that offers everything you need there), but to ...

Re: Zelda - Breath of the Wild and green tunics [slight spoilers]

No, they are not. Be warned though that you are sparing the easiest and most boring dungeon in the game for the last this way. Yeah well, too late. But i heard about this before, so I'm keeping my expectations low. Getting all shrines is my first priority anyway, even if the search is tough. About ...

Re: Zelda - Breath of the Wild and green tunics [slight spoilers]

You only need to defeat three (specific) beasts to play all shrines. The
Goron one
is not required.

Re: (Neogaf) Jim Sterling, Laura Kate Dale: Warning to Yooka-Laylee Pre-Orderers

It is important to note that framerate is not necessarily tied to updates. E.g. in Unity you can use fixedupdate to make sure that the controls are read in fixed intervals. Though, if the framerate is not consistent, this can lead to some really nasty behaviour...

Re: (Neogaf) Jim Sterling, Laura Kate Dale: Warning to Yooka-Laylee Pre-Orderers

noob question , what mean game performance? and what mean 60 constant% i see this time to time , i never really understand what it mean.. and to me its not mean a lot.. anyway i'm sure the game will be awesome. OK, you know that some games are very fluid (like, for instance Mario Galaxy), whereas o...

The only refunds that were issued, as far as I know, were for the Wii U version being cancelled and weren't they be given right away?

Re: N64 graphics

As far as I know you can buy the N64 graphics in the game for quite a hefty (in-game) price. So you will not be able to play the full game in N64 visuals, at least on the first run. Should N64 visuals actually improve framerate, I'd definitely go for a second round in N64 visuals though.

Re: Thank you Playtonic

Now for an interesting challenge: Can you manage to collect all notes in all worlds five times in the remaining time to 100 hours? Though it did not take me quite as long (though still long, maybe 30-40 hours?) the first time around, I definitely have played B-K for about 100 hours as well; complete...

Re: Banjo-Kazooie or Banjo-Tooie?

In my opinion this is no contest, Kazooie wins on all levels. The level design is just perfect all around, super tight, carefully crafted, absolutely not fluff. Tooie has a lot of stretches where nothing of relevance can be found and Tooie is quite complicated. Kazooie is a perfect game, Tooie is ju...

Re: (Neogaf) Jim Sterling, Laura Kate Dale: Warning to Yooka-Laylee Pre-Orderers

Banjo-Tooie was at 10 frames or so, I think I will be able to cope (though I would prefer weaker graphics and better framerates), the important thing is level design. But that's another thing with this humming response: You don't even know for sure what they think is bad about the game.
