I know the name "The Nostalgic Gamer" may sound a little generic in this day and age full of internet personalities, but don't let that fool you, I guarantee you his videos are all about being informative, and very well researched and made, like documentaries.

He has made 10 videos covering the history of Rare, the first one originally released in November 2010 and the last one in march 2017, and I highly recommend you give them a look. Here they are:

Part 1 - Battletoads (and origins): https://youtu.be/H_268KOftlQ
Part 2 - Donkey Kong Country: https://youtu.be/-1XfV_4UcIo
Part 3 - Killer Instinct: https://youtu.be/CNfmpSYJAOA
Part 4 - GoldenEye 007: https://youtu.be/WBPO2STO8LU
Part 5 - Banjo Kazooie: https://youtu.be/R8lVTq7sZSg
Part 6 - Jet Force Gemini: https://youtu.be/B2Lr3JYW4R8
Part 7 - Diddy Kong Racing & Donkey Kong 64: https://youtu.be/rj4h58Pbsnw

Well made.
I'll be more interested when he covers the Microsoft era and what went right/wrong there.

From the Xbox E3 presentation, Rare is focussing solely upon Sea of Thieves DLC (battle toads is being developed by someone else).

Really interesting- I often wondered what happened regarding the split from Nintendo. I still can’t understand why Nintendo let their best developer go, but the big N often makes stupid decisions (much as I love them!).
