I think its gonna be Banjo in Smash. Though I'd prefer a new game if it were only one thing.

so i was reading this

https://www.playtonicgames.com/new-game ... YLWap7AeH8

and this question seems suspicious..

Will the game be at E3?

Let’s just say, more information will follow during E3 week, so stay tuned to learn more about Yooka and Laylee’s new adventure in a cool way.

i find strange they say more informations during E3 week.. but maybe its just me.

Maybe they’re going to launch the new Yooka game at E3? Because I also read from them somewhere (can’t remember if it was from that same Q&A article or if it was on Twitter) that they said it might be launching sooner than we’d expect.

I don't want to get too excited, or have my hopes and dreams crushed as usual when it comes to these kinds of things...

But this WILL be the first time I tune in for Microsoft's press conference just to see if anything comes of this.

If anything I think the new merch is just another thing pointing to Banjo in Smash, if it's pointing to anything at all. I don't think a new Banjo-Kazooie game is ever going to happen, and I say that as someone who's primary interest going into every E3--since I first started watching them back when they aired on G4--has been the reveal of a proper BK3. It's time to just accept that it isn't happening.

That said...I love Nuts & Bolts, I love Yooka-Laylee, I love Sea of Thieves, and I'll love Banjo in Smash if that ends up happening. None of those things can ever replace the thing I want most, but I'm not going to let the absence of my most wanted thing subtract from my enjoyment of other awesome things that aren't my most wanted thing.

That was an interesting watch, thanks for sharing it.

The point made about how no other guest character to be added to Smash has had any merchandise made of them is quite convincing that we might be getting not only Banjo & Kazooie in Smash, but also a whole new game. Because they wouldn’t waste money making merch of such old characters just for their guest appearance in Smash.

Also I think if we actually do get a third proper Banjo-Kazooie game, I think they might not call it “Banjo-Threeie” as we’d all like, purely because the other two games are so old that there will be a whole lot of younger gamers who will not even know about these characters (those poor kids don’t know what they’re missing!), so I think Microsoft will want to keep the full names of the characters in the title to build brand recognition with younger gamers. So I think any third game’s title will either follow the same sort of format as the new Yooka game, being something like, for example (but hopefully way more creative!), “Banjo-Kazooie and the Hunt For Jiggies”, or will use the original game name with a number in it to shown it’s the third in the series, such as “Banjo-Kazooie 3: Jiggy Hunting”.

You know, for the vast majority of my life I've wanted nothing more than Banjo-Threeie but now I think too much time has passed and I would agree with rare and Microsoft in saying that the title would have to have the characters full names. Because although there are thousands of us that are very aware of Banjo-Kazooie it has been 20 years since it was established. So it would essentially be like starting from scratch.

The only way Banjo-Threeie can ever get made is if Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie get the crash and spiro treatment with a brand new ground up remaster. THEN (providing the dialogue stays the same) they could follow that up with Banjo-Threeie.

Sadly no love for banjo with Microsoft’s E3 this year. Maybe Microsoft and Nintendo has a surprise with the Nintendo direct presentation.

The MS E3 pres. was a let down overall and (of course ) no Banjo...

Nintendo is our last hope.

Bit harsh dude. Although the whole thing started with them they never really hinted towards there being a new game. We came to that conclusion ourselves.

Edit: Last night I was so angry. This morning I just feel sad and incredibly disappointed.
That MS e3 presentation was absolutely crap, and they hyped it up SO much. I feel like this was the year Banjo should have returned to the spotlight. I will never go along with any of these rumours or leaks for as long as I live. I am done watching Microsoft's e3 presentations. Not got much Hope's for Nintendo's either (last years was terrible)

As far as "Banjo in Smash" goes. As far as interest goes I'm about a 2/10. I really dont care, I want a new game that they star in, not an appearance in a game that came out last year.

Like I said, The Banjo-Kazooie series probably isn't coming back. The 3D platformer revival is at its peak, if MS still isn't convinced to jump aboard then nothing is going to change their mind.

Should the worst happen and Banjo-Kazooie as a franchise is indeed dead (we'll have to see if anything is done in the Nintendo Direct) at least we still have the OG creators in Playtonic and Yooka-Laylee will fill that void. I just started to watch the developer commentary videos on Y-L and they seem to have learned a lot from their mistakes from the first game, and inspired by other games like Mario Odyssey. I bet the eventual Tooka-Laylee will be a vast improvement on the first and Yooka-Laylee and the impossible Lair will open the Duo up to audiences who may have been on the fence for playing the original game.

Basically Banjo-Kazooie will live on through Yooka-Laylee if they don't make the comeback that we are hoping for.
