The point made about how no other guest character to be added to Smash has had any merchandise made of them is quite convincing that we might be getting not only Banjo & Kazooie in Smash, but also a whole new game. Because they wouldn’t waste money making merch of such old characters just for their guest appearance in Smash.
Also I think if we actually do get a third proper Banjo-Kazooie game, I think they might not call it “Banjo-Threeie” as we’d all like, purely because the other two games are so old that there will be a whole lot of younger gamers who will not even know about these characters (those poor kids don’t know what they’re missing!), so I think Microsoft will want to keep the full names of the characters in the title to build brand recognition with younger gamers. So I think any third game’s title will either follow the same sort of format as the new Yooka game, being something like, for example (but hopefully way more creative!), “Banjo-Kazooie and the Hunt For Jiggies”, or will use the original game name with a number in it to shown it’s the third in the series, such as “Banjo-Kazooie 3: Jiggy Hunting”.
