Re: Kameo - Elements of Power

Kameo wasn't half-bad. It was a transitional game - half past-gen, half next-gen - but gameplay-wise it was at the very least decent. :) It dated badly WRT graphics but other than that it's still playable.

Re: Steam Greenlight?

In any case, most Kickstarter do both at the same time for this exact reason! How many large games were there on KS to date, 10? Most games on KS are tiny. yes (...) no difference FAQ doesn't back up what you're saying. Q: What is your revenue split? A: We don't discuss our revenue split publicly. ...

Re: Backing

PayPal is problematic since they're not very elastic WRT the cut they take. That's most likely why KS went with Stripe as their payment processor (this and Amazon ditching KS). It benefits nobody - except for the payment processor obviously ;] - to incur higher fees on every backed good.

Re: Steam Greenlight?

I'm not saying that it'd be the only source of attention according to you. I think you've said extra attention, which is fair. I'm just doubting that this would generate buzz beyond all the other sources. Also - and this I genuinely don't know - it's important to first understand if going through Gr...

Re: Steam Greenlight?

What's the appeal of Steam Greenlight for Playtonic, really? To get on Steam maybe? Valve doesn't give free passes like candies, even to well known developers. Hell, the developers of Ikaruga had to go through Greenlight, rules are rules. Ikaruga was done by ~5 people and is a niche game for...

Re: Please disclose Framerate for 120hz 144hz users

That's one of the benefits of PC gaming, you chose yourself. There's nothing that the developers have to sacrifice. First of all, stop being combative, please. It's not like I'm attacking PC gamers and their beloved ability to tweak games. Probably because I'm a) PC gamer, b) graphics programmer. A...

Re: Please disclose Framerate for 120hz 144hz users

@Ryan: 30 fps with motion blur looks nothing like 60fps, it looks much worse (I actually disable motion blur in all my games...). That's why I wrote *convincing* motion blur. Most games do a very poor job at creating one, Capcom being prime example of that with what they implement in their MT Frame...

Re: Please disclose Framerate for 120hz 144hz users

Just stop... This comes up on every forum and is nonsense spread by console players to make themselves feel better. No, this comes from the fact that neither "side" can really understand human vision. ;) There are two things at play here. One: human eye requires 20-30 frames per second to...

Re: Questions regarding a port for the Nintendo 3DS

There are still some rumours circulating that the Unity co. is creating a Nintendo 3DS build for developing games for that specific handheld console. Unity has been confirmed for the New 3DS. Chances of Unity supporting the old one are next to zero at this point, partially because of the focus shif...

Re: Steam Greenlight?

What's the appeal of Steam Greenlight for Playtonic, really? They got covered by IGN, you'll read about them in every print and online publication moving forward. And it's not like Valve doesn't have incentive to sell this game. Greenlight isn't half-bad for small projects. This ain't AAA game but i...

Re: Backing

I had this problem twice before. In every case I'd get notification from KS that they couldn't charge my card and asked me to provide another one. There's a window (2 or 4 weeks, don't remember) after the campaign ends, in which KS is collecting monies. Some people don't have funds at that time, the...

Re: Now that the Kickstarter is a huge success, PLEASE add 3DS and Vita versions as goals!

Old 3DS isn't supported by Unity so this won't happen. But I'd have one more reason to by the New 3DS if it came out for the platform. :)

Re: Please disclose Framerate for 120hz 144hz users

Dude, it's less than 3 months in the making. Art's not final, performance tweaking hasn't even started. It'd be tea leaves fortune telling at this point and even less fair to the backers than not stating anything WRT framerate. Also - there's a thread on frmaerate out there already. ;) http://forums...

Re: Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter successfully funded including all stretch goals...in less than a bloody day!!!

Kickstarter does convert the currency, though. You mean in the sense of showing $106 instead o 70£ by the pledge? I haven't seen that yet and I've been using KS for a long time, backing around 50 project so far. This never happened to me so I'm genuinely surprised by what you're saying. :) Conversi...

I don't think it's a hub world. I'd imagine that hub world would be a safe haven and place to socialize with other NPCs. :)

Re: Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter successfully funded including all stretch goals...in less than a bloody day!!!

That's weird I still see pounds. I'm in the US. Because this is the currency this project will be handled in. Basically this guarantees that the monetary value the project is going to collect is indifferent to external factors like exchange rates. This also makes it impossible to game the system an...

Re: there's a day night cycle

True! I initially thought that it's just character in the shade or what have you. :) But there's also that part around the first minute. It looks like a different location altogether - cave of sorts (at least with rocky walls, giant shrooms and green slime is the type of setting it evokes). Some of ...

Re: 60 fps

I agree. I don't understand why developers lock the framerate of any game to any set integer. If I have a system that can play your game at 60+ FPS, allow me to do so. Do you actually have monitor that can go beyond 60fps? And even then, do you own one that can display at any arbitrary framerate? T...
