Re: Playtonic Universe - Problem?

I reckon not ALL the games will fit in the same universe. That seems extremely restrictive to their creativity and flexibility, which is what they set out to preserve by starting Playtonic. I still want to see lots of cute, cartoony games, but I'd also welcome a more realistic Perfect Dark kind of t...

Re: Toybox Experience: Should There Be An Ability To Grab Objects?

In the new Gamescom trailer there is some kind of a ledge grab ability where Yooka uses his tongue to grapple to specific structures. I'm assuming it's a power up move. This is fine by me.

Re: Less Hope For Yooka Laylee?

I'd just like to document that I had my hyper cynical 15-year-old brother play the Toybox+, and he loved every moment of it. He's been overly critical of Y-L as a result of the many, many failed Kickstarter games, especially because of its "spiritual successor" status and was comparing it ...

Re: Share Your Ideas for Animations! Idle, rolling, talking, and more!

Even though I missed the jiggy dance when it was removed in B-T, I liked being able to move better. That jiggy dance was super cathartic, though. When I think of a great example of animation, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker comes to mind. Link's facial expressions that are constantly reacting to...

Re: General Chat (& Random Thoughts)

I was only recalling how, way back when, I assured everyone here his electability was zero, and look where he is now... Ha. I agree, I don't much want to get too deep into politics in this what should remain a fun and safe forum. In the sense that Trump would be able to get decisions made and things...

Re: General Chat (& Random Thoughts)

My random thought for the day:

A long time ago, likely over a year ago, we talked about Donald Trump in the Playtonic chat and that you non-Americans were couldn't believe he was seriously being considered for presidential office. I told y'all not to worry and it would never happen.

I am so sorry.

Re: Rolling on water?

Well, I'm currently playing through Zelda: Majora's Mask on Project 64 with an Xbox One controller on Windows 10 with no issues. Earlier this year I played through B-K and B-T with the same set up, with the difference that I used a 360 controller part of the time. I'm not knowledgeable enough to kno...

Re: General Chat (& Random Thoughts)

This was discussed last year, but I keep thinking about how brilliant a Mario Kart style game would be from Playtonic. Imagine the stunning worlds -- some based on Yooka-Laylee's worlds and some new ones entirely. Imagine all the brilliant characters to choose from. Imagine the fun twists that Play...

Re: Nostalgia in a box

Oh geez, it was a nostalgia fest the entire time! How can I possibly name them all?? As already stated, the menu screen, the font, the sarcastic dialogue, the mumble speech, the animations, the pagie appearance, how it felt finally collecting it... There is so much to mention! Some others I want to ...

Re: Rolling on water?

(which is only really a problem 'cause I don't have a controller that works with my PC). Maybe you already have, but have you looked into getting an Xbox 360 controller? It works actually really well with N64 controls. I've also seen USB GameCube controllers available, through I couldn't tell you h...

Re: Ball Roll Suggestions

I don't really mind how difficult the game is, the question is more what sort of difficulty. Canary Mary, for example, while often toted as the height of challenge, involves no skill beyond pressing a button really fast. No precision, no timing, no thought, just button bashing. My thoughts exactly....

Re: Rolling on water?

I just remembered that you could run on water in Banjo-Tooie! When Kazooie wears the Turbo Trainers she can run across water, but if you stop moving they fall in and lose the trainers. This move was important for Glitter Gulch Mine to make it to the barred cave in the time limit, and in Jolly Rodger...

Re: Glover, and the sequel that never was. most unique gameplay

I played this as a kid too. I liked it, but I to a point where I couldn't progress. I think it was just I couldn't figure out what had to be done next, but I tried really hard! I might try to see if my parents still have this in storage...see if I can beat it as an adult!

Re: Rolling on water?

That could make an interesting power up! Only can be performed if already in Reptile Roll when entering the water, can't fall from a distance into the water, and how about only if you're going a certain speed? As soon as you slow down or stop, you fall in. I would enjoy some timed challenges with th...

Re: I have to commend Playtonic in terms of font size...

Here here. The font size is great. A lot of games don't consider this. I end up having to squint at text whenever I increase the resolution; the game looks nicer but the text and UI gets so small it's unreadable. Especially since this is a game aimed at all ages, a large font size will help younger ...

Re: Ledge grabbing?

Can you add a third option for "no opinion?" I'm not for or against ledge grabbing. I think a platformer can be fun with or without it. If there's no ledge grab, it's likely intentional and we're supposed to navigate other ways.
