Re: Playtonic Forum Closure

As a non-user of social media I guess this is it for me as far the Playtonic fan community goes. *sniffle* A fond farewell to everyone here. Thanks for sharing in all the speculation, venting, anticipation, and finally excitement and joy in the lead-up to Yooka-Laylee's release... and then doing it ...

Re: With the Impossible Lair announced...

Someone asked Daley about the DLC on Twitter on the day of the Impossible Lair announcement, and her response was that they "have not forgotten about the DLC but they have nothing to announce at this time". My takeaway was that until Impossible Lair is out the door we probably shouldn't ex...

Re: Is YL and the Impossible Lair 60fps or 30fps?

I'm curious to know this as well. I have the option to buy the game on Switch or PC and would much rather be able to take it on my fairly lengthy commute, but not if it means playing at 30 FPS. I'm sure Daley and the rest of the team are having a busy time of things at the moment though, so I'm not ...

Re: Speculation: New Yooka-Laylee game reveal this week?

Holy smokes, you guys. Not gonna lie; in spite of the positive tone of my last post in this topic, all week I've been bracing myself for the announcement of "Worms: This Time Versus Bees" or "Yoku's Island Express 2: Journey to the Isle of Honey" and trying to let myself down as ...

Re: Speculation: New Yooka-Laylee game reveal this week?

Team 17 confirmed on Twitter earlier that the first of their 2 game announcements is the pixel-art Metroidvania title, Blasphemous. Thankfully, given the motif of the game we can be pretty well certain that it's the one being referenced by the metal band in the hint picture, leaving the honeycombs w...

(...) 1. A lot of the more common fan complaints (lack of variety in terms of gameplay challenges, copied and pasted enemies/NPCs, game doesn't have that "90's Rare" level of polish, etc.) were the result of constraints related to time/budget/personnel/Unity engine limitations, rather tha...

Interesting tidbit from Y-L 2-year article

"We know you’re eager to hear all about what’s next for us, but we aren’t ready to violate our NDAs just yet." Last time Daley mentioned an NDA I assumed she had signed one herself with the management of Playtonic since she is the most customer-facing employee of the company, but this soun...

Re: Yooka-Laylee: 64-Bit Tonic coming soon!

From the shreds of evidence we've gotten so far (they thought it would be done soon in November, we've seen plenty of screenshots and video of what looks to be a completed product, in the Moodymaze Marsh commentary video Daley thought they'd be able to give us a sneak preview of the tonic in the bui...

Re: Lessons Playtonic might learn from Yooka-Laylee...

Having watched each of the Developer Commentary videos twice over, two things regarding what future Playtonic games might look like have become readily apparent: 1. A lot of the more common fan complaints (lack of variety in terms of gameplay challenges, copied and pasted enemies/NPCs, game doesn't ...

Re: Developer Commentary videos! (UPDATED!)

Saw the call go out for Moodymaze Marsh questions on Twitter, but I don't have an account so I'll ask it here: The jack-o-lanterns littered around Moodymaze's Grand Tome and the start of the level hint that the aesthetic will be a blend of Bubblegloop Swamp and Mad Monster Mansion, but the other 98%...

Re: Yooka-Laylee's first anniversary!

Hello Daley! Welcome to the Playtonic family and the message boards. I know that in the video game world it's only too easy for a disgruntled minority to dominate the conversation around certain issues, so I thought I'd chime in and keep the positivity train going for at least a little longer. First...

if they do a get gemini game , i won't buy for sure. Huh, I guess your username should be downgraded to ' kind-of-a- fanofoldrare'. :D But in all seriousness, we have no idea what they're currently working on. I suspect David Wise is doing the majority of the music this time as I seem to remember G...

Re: How many Kickstarter milestones are there left for Playtonic Games to complete?

Goals not met yet: - N64 shader (which is a Tonic) - Developer walkthrough - Orchestral score - DLC (free for backers) (Am I forgetting something?) Wasn't there something about adding extra language translation options (or maybe that already happened)? Also I thought someone on these boards mention...

Re: Yooka-Laylee's first anniversary!

Has anyone heard any solid numbers of how Yooka-Laylee has performed on the Switch? Remember, as lousy as that delay was for the Switch-only backers, from Playtonic's perspective it meant an unanticipated eight months(!) of extra work that they only got paid for after they finished. If the return on...

Re: GameXplain: Super Mario Odyssey Discussion Brings Up Yooka-Laylee

The comparisons are useful but not quite fair. Mario Odyssey is a AAA game with over two hundred (200!) devs working for nearly 4 years on an practically unlimited budget. Yooka Laylee was made by an average of like 12 people over 2 years. That’s not to say Yooka couldn’t have been a better game, b...

Re: How would you rank all 5 worlds from best to worst?

1. Tribalstack Tropics, Capital Cashino, Galleon Galaxy Loved all 3. Wouldn't touch a hair on any of their heads (originally I found the uneven distribution of content between pre and post-expansion Galleon Galaxy to be a little odd, but after playing through the level it would have been impossible ...

Re: Thank you Playtonic

Loaded the game up yesterday morning, hoping for the best but not really knowing what to expect. I ended up playing for 13 hours straight with only a single bathroom break. By the end of it my thumbs ached and I was hungry and tired, but I was grinning like a 10 year-old kid and had been for the who...

Re: PSA: Backerkit Surveys have been Reopened

As per Playtonic's Twitter, Toybox codes for people who are upgrading to physical versions will be sent out shortly after the survey re-lock on the 16th. Presumably to prevent people from switching to physical, getting their Toybox code, then switching back to digital.
