Re: DLC = Sequel Theory

It might be a bit narrow-minded, but I think the only DLC that really makes sense for Y-L is something like an extra world or purely cosmetic things like the 64-bit tonic, maybe some costumes like Mario Odyssey, cheat codes, etc. I think anything beyond that involving new moves or bigger design cha...

Re: DLC = Sequel Theory

Taylor, you make some great points! Yes, of course what I said only makes any sense if the next game is a sequel to Yooka-Laylee. It might not be the best assumption, but I do think that's at least one of the games they're working on. (At least, I selfishly hope so!) Regardless of the next games, DL...

DLC = Sequel Theory

With the recent announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong as a "DLC-turned-full-sequel," does anyone else think it's possible that Playtonic might be doing the same with a potential Tooka-Laylee? From the Developer Commentary videos, they all seem very cognizant and forward about the shortco...

Re: Worlds real order of Levels 3,4 and 5

Evidence towards some level being space themed: -"Skiffy Skirmish" is a boss tune. "Skiffy" could be sort of a play on "Sci-fi." -An arcade tune being titled "Up 'n' Nova." Also, the track "Armed and Dangerous" could be referring to an octopus boss, ...

Re: Will this have boss battles like in banjo tooie?

The recent OPM issue confirms that Rampo is a boss! Between him and the "Head of Security," I think the bosses look great.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Soundtrack Sneak-peak?

Seeing as Playtonic tweeted it with the googly eyes (which usually mean news), I do think there will be something new on it! I think there will also be an article in the magazine, hopefully some new screens too.

Re: 6 worlds??

I predict 7 worlds + a hub. 20 pagies per world, 200 quills per world. The hub world won't have any quills, but will have 30 pages. 4 pagies come from each of the 7 levels (28) That leaves 2 remaining pagies, which I believe would be a tutoral pagie you get in the beginning, and one final secret en...

Re: Toybox feedback & discussion thread (SPOILERS)

I played the Toybox for the first time in a while this weekend. With the amount of times that the spring jump is used just in the Toybox, I can really see that sound effect becoming grating. In the Capital Cashino trailer, we also hear the sound that the charged roll move makes, and, in my opinion, ...

Re: Capital Ca$hino!

Two other things:

1. I hope exchanging coins for pagies is only for some of the pagies, and that you still earn some through exploration and missions and whatnot. Having to buy all the pagies might feel strange...

2. Any ideas what the "head-spinning" transformation might be?

Re: Anyone else find that defeating enemies feels unsatisfying?

From the Toybox, I thought fighting enemies mostly felt good, I just hope you don't only ever encounter groups of enemies at a time, where you have to stop and fight them all for no reason. I'd rather have single enemies placed in dangerous positions- for example, near the Mollycool in Tribalstack T...

Re: Capital Ca$hino!

This world is really cool! + Those enemies are decks of cards with poker chips for arms. + It's like Grunty Industries and Witchy World with the feeling that you're now in hostile territory. The stealthy sections in the "staff-only" areas look awesome. + The pinball sections they mentioned...

Have they given any update on the orchestration? Either way, this sounds great!

Re: Yooka-Laylee launch date in line with Switch launch?

I don't think it's coming out on Switch, at least not simultaneously alongside the promised platforms. There may be a port at some point, but if the game was at all delayed to accommodate the release on a platform that wasn't part of the Kickstarter, that could very easily make Playtonic look bad. I...

Re: Number of Worlds

Meinhardl, I think you've brought me back to earth. I remember Chris reiterating 5 worlds as recently as EGX, I'll try to find where he said that. I expect 5 (awesome) worlds and cannot wait to see the unique expansions they all have- I'm sure this will be a big game. I've seen people on other forum...

Re: Number of Worlds

You make a lot of good points! Thanks for compiling all the evidence. I think you might be right about them combining Shipwreck Creek and Hivory Towers for the totals. I do think there's a sixth world, and I do think Playtonic likes to mislead, but I don't think they'd outright lie. Maybe it's a &qu...

Re: Swamp Level - Confirmed?

I'm almost positive that I read somewhere in an article that a swamp world would be in the game. I also think that the fact that the concept art image is called "Swamp.jpg" kind of proves it. But that isn't 100% proof of course Any chance you remember where the article is? And yeah, there...

Re: Swamp Level - Confirmed?

I think that this might mean that they are just there to reference the painting, and not necessarily confirm that this is a underwater city. ;) That is a great catch! I agree with you that it's probably just a swamp; if I remember correctly, this image came out around the time the Glitterglaze Glac...

Re: Polishing stage

What models do mean exactly? Did you mean the smoke by any chance, that was the most obvious placeholder in my opinion. I worded it a little poorly, I'm talking about draw distance- when you're facing an open area and walking around, sometimes the game doesn't display actual models (platforms, char...

Re: How many collectibles?

There have been a few developments: + Original screenshot showing 170 pagies, 1400 quills, 6 mollycools... + Andy Robinson tweets that this screenshot is from an old press build! + New screenshot showing Hivory Towers totals- 20 pagies, 200 quills, 1 health extender, 1 power extender. + Someone spot...
