Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

I think some of that can be attributed to a difference in audience. A live professional orchestra will have people who normally go to hear that style of music. The student orchestra I linked to has a different audience that is probably more familiar with video game music and felt that staying along...

Re: Yooka needs some clothes

You know, I think it would be kind of funny if he wore clothes and they just stayed. But then like, all the NPCs would make stupid comments about it while still being clueless in that Rare sort of humor. But that's probably not the best idea, the clothes could always just disappear with him. Or may...

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

I think this may be a better comparison for what an orchestral version of BK would be like: https://youtu.be/wvqGD9vaCfY?t=136 Just not recorded with a camcorder microphone, and with professionals. I don't see anything wrong with this. It is still mostly just as upbeat and exciting as the original ...

Re: Yooka needs some clothes

If Yooka worse clothes, then he wouldn't be able to camouflage into his surroundings as well. You know, I think it would be kind of funny if he wore clothes and they just stayed. Re: Watching Grant Kirkhope try to explain what "orchestral" means to idiots is cringe-worthy

I know this is just directed at me. Also, I know the difference, I just suck at explaining and by creating the topic, you are insulting me. Actually it was directed at the idiotic Twitter war going on over at Grant's Twitter page, but good job taking it personally mate. I wasn't aware because I sta...

Re: Watching Grant Kirkhope try to explain what "orchestral" means to idiots is cringe-worthy

Please Playtonic Games, don't let these people scare you away from what could be a PHENOMENAL music score. People need to learn the difference between atmospheric / ambient orchestral scores in movies and catchy memorable tunes used in video games. I find songs are catchier when there's not an orch...

Re: Orchestral Track

These people who are complaining, did you play Mario Kart 8? ANY of the modern Zelda games? The orchestral soundtracks are incredible and immersive, and like it or not, it's how a lot of games do it these days. It's like you're anti-progress. Reminds me of Henry Ford: "If I had asked people wh...

Re: Orchestral Track

I do know the difference, but is it my fault that Rayman Legends sounds like classical music? Except that it doesn't? :? What classical music does it sound like exactly? Just because it doesn't sound like a specific track doesn't mean it couldn't be switched out for an actual classic musical track....

Re: Orchestral Track

Excuse me? How is it fact? Is it a fact now that the original Mario Bros. theme sucks compared to its orchestral versions? A fact that Banjo Kazooie's music sucks because it was re-done with an orchestra in Nuts n Bolts? I think not. The music of those classic games are very good, but the sound qua...

Re: Orchestral Track

Take for example Mario Galaxy 2, the whole soundtrack is bland because it's all orchestral, with no catchy tunes, which is what video games SHOULD have. If I'm playing on a level for over an hour with the music on a loop, it better be catchy and up-beat (depending on the mood of the level of course...

Re: Orchestral Track

You know that the actual tunes of the game are orchestral? They are not recorded with a live orchestra, but the sounds are from samples of orchestral sound. So I don't get your point, how you want them? I'd rather keep it midi and up-beat than slow and symphonic. Pls consider this video Game Develo...

Re: Orchestral Track

The "midi sound" is one of the things that should be left in the 90s. Live is always more beautiful than samples. What makes it sound bad is not positioning the microphones properly. Too far away and it gets washed out. The microphones need to close to the instruments so we get that carto...

Re: Orchestral Track

Live orchestral music is better; there's no argument here. If you liked Nuts & Bolts' music, you'll love a live orchestra in Yooka-Laylee. Again, just your opinion. I don't like Nuts n Bolts soundtrack as much because it sounds like I should be watching a play or a movie instead of playing a vi...
