Re: No blob shadows? 3D platforming needs them.

It's more like giving a racer auto-drive, and an RPG a gps. The conversation has now drifted toward discussing what the definition of a challenge is. I'm going to put forward my opinion. Difficulty, in terms of video games, is something that can be consistently overcome by the player if they put fo...

Re: A Gameplay Concern

There are more creative solutions to the problem than resorting to a graphical limitation from the 90s. Like good game design. I find it very difficult to agree with all your statements in this comment, but I would like to understand what you mean. Could you be more specific about what "good g...

Re: No blob shadows? 3D platforming needs them.

Those shadows are clearly shaped like the characters casting them and not little circles centered directly beneath them. I strongly suggest you read the rest of the posts before you post again. You seem to have a misunderstanding of the subject matter. A little more open-mindedness would be appreci...

Re: No blob shadows? 3D platforming needs them.

To be fair, that's partially because there's no shadow at all. I'm all for having a blob shadow, but a realistic one beats nothing at all. A blob shadow can look realistic. The term "blob" is misleading. It should really be called a "top-down shadow". https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: A Gameplay Concern

Since making this thread, I found the other thread related to this and proceeded to slam my forehead into my palm because I didn't check first. Nonetheless this thread has a poll, which will show what people think in a more general sense. I'm sure there can be some kind of marker underneath the char...

Re: No blob shadows? 3D platforming needs them.

Ah, I posted a new thread about this issue only to find that it's already been brought up. Anyway, I feel strongly that these "blob shadows" are absolutely necessary. As a side note, the term "blob" is misleading. It should really be called a "top-down shadow" or someth...

A Gameplay Concern

Recently I re-watched the kickstarter gameplay video for Yooka-Laylee, and I noticed something that I hope changes before the game's release. Firstly, I would like to mention that I'm aware that a lot of work has left to be done on the game and I don't mean to say that I think the game is awful just...
