Re: Playtonic knows what RARE is working on, says fans will

I'm surprised you still check that, it's been what, two years since the last Scribes? True, but hey! There was recently a Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise Tepid Seat! It's been a long time since the last Tepid Seat as well, so who's to say one of these days Loveday won't decide to do another edition...

Re: Conker’s Big Reunion coming to Project Spark April 23rd

The thing is, it's Conker in Project Spark or no Conker at all. If they were really using him just to sell their (free) game, then they could've chosen any character in Microsoft's repertoire, which admititaly isn't that vast, but under that school of thought, they still would've gotten more exposur...

Re: donkeykongcountry.com

Gaz has an incredible collection of Donkey Kong-related site archives, both official and fanmade. If anyone happens to have the sites archived and is wondering whether it's worth the effort to share it, let me assure you that, yes, it's totally worth it. It'd be an absolute shame for his archives to...

Re: Oh my, I am so immature x3

To get technical, Project Dream is what Banjo started its life as, but it was to be extraordinarily different from what we eventually got. A more fitting analogy would be if Project Dream had come out the way it was originally intended and ended up with the final title of, say, Edison's Wacky Advent...

Re: Conker’s Big Reunion coming to Project Spark April 23rd

He certainly looks less organic than he did in Bad Fur Day and especially Live & Reloaded, I'll also agree that his animation doesn't look very fluid, but I don't see how he looks unlikeable or anything. It's different, but I actually dig his new look. It fits the little guy quite nicely. Micros...

The name's Yusuf, I'm 28, and I'm a lifelong Rare fan. Feel free to get your Cat Stevens jokes out right now, I'll bet you can't think of one I haven't heard yet. As stated before, I'm a massive Rare fan. My first Rare game was Solar Jetman, but the game that really cemented that I'd be following th...

Re: Will a goldfish tap the side of his bowl three times?

Blowfish are incapable of of tapping the glass three times. It doesn't take an ichthyologist to know that it's a feat only doable by a select few goldfish. I thought that was just common knowledge.

Re: Characters should age over time

I somewhat disagree. I think the characters should become known and lovable -- frozen in time just like Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, The Simpsons etc. (I know there's occasionally some aging, but they don't change much). Oh yeah, Tiny barely changed. And Wrinkly? She's the same in every game. Just a ...

Re: lives or no lives?

I always (Troff and)Scoff at the school of thought that says lives are outdated and redundant, but that's a criticism people usually have for 2D platformers. While I strongly disagree with that idea for in the 2D realm, I kinda feel that way about 3D platformers, well, collectathons to be specific. ...

Re: Banjo Kazooie & Nintendo

Legally speaking, there's nothing stopping Rare from releasing a Banjo game on the 3DS. But all that means is that it's technically not impossible; it's still highly improbable. For starters, Rare used to have a team dedicated to handheld development. That team eventually shifted their focus to XBLA...

Re: A hat in time (Hat kid?) cameo?

No. As great as it would be for two indie games to give each other exposure via some cross-promotion, I wouldn't want this. Lobo is the only one I'd be kinda okay with, but that's because that game is so Rare-inspired in not just the gameplay, but also the character design. A Hat in Time's character...

Re: If there's a beta (Early Access), would you play it?

I've never been one who wants to get early access for beta builds of games, and I don't think that would change for Ukulele. But it's weird. I'm extremely pumped for the game, and if I were to be offered a chance the play the game ahead of time, you bet your ass I'm jumping on that opportunity. Howe...

Re: The mysterious character

Smokey getting his own spin-off? Bluey had priorities, man. In all seriousness, I actually don't see the resemblance. If there is a resemblance and I'm just not seeing it, then it's still more surprising then you'd assume. Diddy Kong Racing's art was done by Kev Bayliss, and his style, while similar...

Re: Favourite Rare XBOX title

Grabbed by the Ghoulies. It's just so window cleaning fun. The humor is quintessentially Rare, I mean, there's an innuendo right in the damn title. That's not even getting into all the Rare references littered across the game. It's fun just hunting for all of the references. The spirit of the game i...

Re: Nintendo should REALLY think about locking this project

It'd be an incredibly smart move by Nintendo. One thing Nintendo lacks but totally needs is another Western developer that can sell big time. All they really have right now is Retro, who can only make a couple games per generation. But you have to realize something about Playtonic vs. Rare. Rare jus...

Re: Exclusive games on consoles

Why leave them in the dust? Especially the Xbone owners, as twelve years(and counting) of Rare's history has been with Microsoft. Besides, Viva Pinata and the XBLA ports of the Banjo games and Perfect Dark have sold well. Without the Kickstarter, I could understand Ukulele being exclusive to one sys...

Re: Exclusive games on consoles

A lot of people tend to ignore a very important piece of information regarding this. They act like Rare's only place is on Nintendo systems. You have to remember, a significant portion of Rare's history has been with Microsoft. This statistic explains it the best: Rare's time as a second-party devel...
