agreed, just the fact that you were constantly climbing up was motivation enough to keep going. I couldn't wait to get enough notes to open the next door. A single linear direction with a bunch of branching paths and hidden stuff on the sides would be perfect

Another vote for more Banjo Kazooie/Mario 64 style levels, Tooie was a bit too much open for my taste and I got lost frequently. I like completing levels in chunks and progressing through a hub world of sorts. The game should have a big hub world with little secrets hidden everywhere but not so much...
