Re: Any chance of an E3 showcase?

You don't need a booth to attend E3, give interviews and show an E3 tailored trailer. There is so much stuff going on behind the scenes at E3...

Re: Who wants Project Ukulele to be released on Xbox 360?

Sure, let's make it PC exclusive then. I'm not serious, but you see where I'm going, there is a middle ground. As I said, I'm not against making it as technically advanced as possible, I'm just saying it's not too important. Boundaries are pushed pretty regularly. Witcher 3 is very disappointing be...

Re: Day/Night Cycle?

I was always scared to get lost in WOW...so I never really played it. But that time-shifting 1:3 hours system sounds like a very good solution.
But again...WOW is the best example for games you most likely will spend many realtime days in...therefore a slow day and night cycle makes
perfect sense.

Re: Who wants Project Ukulele to be released on Xbox 360?

Hmmm I think Im not talking about artstyle here. Im talking about caring for the best looking product possible, and pushing hard to reach it. I just miss this ever thirsty "how far can we go" pioneer spirit of the 90s...especially (and still) to be felt in Rare games of that era DKC and es...

Re: Who wants Project Ukulele to be released on Xbox 360?

Why are the graphics always considered to be "not that important" in the platforming genre nowadays? It's not that they're not important, but the relative importance of graphics to the gameplay is lower than in most other genres. Platformers also go for cartoony atmospheres, which require...

Re: Who wants Project Ukulele to be released on Xbox 360?

Don't underestimate the amount of work (and therefore time and money) it takes to make a title reasonable compatible for multi-platform AND several generations. At least if you plan to fully exploit the potential of the recent generation design wise. And old Rare for example always pushed the techni...

Re: Day/Night Cycle?

Oh I assumed you meant a regular day and night change every 20 minutes or so. 24h really? I cant remember any good game ever used this feature (haven't intensively played AC btw). I agree that I cant imagine a 24h day/night cycle for such a game. What about all the people who play only at night? Wha...

Re: Day/Night Cycle?

If they follow the basic BK formula, they might have isolated level/worlds again. So nothing stands against having an individual level that is always set at nighttime. The BK games as well as DK64 were much about exploration. The team also stated that they want to create expanding worlds. The idea t...

Re: Fan Art!

Thanks again! Marcus...you really should think about continuing your project! You never know where this might end up some day. Don't underestimate your Kiwi design! I think its a genuine and pretty inspiring base worth to build on. Just fill your world with story, and dare to introduce your own styl...

Re: Playtonic Past Museum (Unused Content Room)

You always produce a lot of stuff that won't find its way into the final game if you aim for quality. Regardless how big your project is or how experienced you are. Especially Rare was a very good example when it came to "killing their babies" for the sake of a better product. Project Drea...

Re: Fan Art!

Thank you...I feel really honoured! I would have never guessed that this image could one day be associated with the original Dinosaur Planet history. The Rare guys were like unreachable rockstars to me (and still are)... But funnily I found it quite a few times in combination with Dinosaur Planet st...

Re: Fan Art!

Zita Thank you!! I just recently discovered that this image somehow survived the rarenet shutdown. Funny story that you had it on your HDD for years. Marcus this is so cool! I stumbled across this already a few months ago, but played it just now. Nice work man! I really enjoy the character design of...

Re: Fan Art!

Another oldie from around '99/2000 I believe. Also drawn with markers and a pinch of "PhotoImpact(!) MAGIC" 8-) for the fancy motion blur. Again done for RareNet back then. I think I should rescan this someday...the quality is still oldschool MedievalRes in all its glory :D. Despite only h...

Re: A hat in time (Hat kid?) cameo?

Why the need for all these cameos and stuff?? Jon Tron, Hat in Time, Kickstarter backers etc...I don't really get it. Its nice that they care so much for their fans and community, but personally i'd rather want to explore a fresh and new world without the need of tipped hats at every corner and only...

Re: Fan Art!

Just stumbled across this piece these days... :D It was made in 1999..impatiently counting down the days to the upcoming release of Donkey Kong 64. Completely drawn with markers, then scanned in and with some kind of smudge tool (in PhotoImpact "lol") I pulled out the furry hairs. It was d...

Re: Should Project Ukulele have vehicles?

If done right, it can be quite some fun. Why not? Many beloved Rare (non racing)games had added it in some form. As racing minigames, fast shoes, submarines, spaceships, tanks etc. Forget Nuts & Bolts...there are quite some ways to implement a "vehicle-gameplay" element nicely... It se...
