Text bubble options?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWLLX_C8vxw We've got some new hub exploration footage and I'm seeing the same minor problem with the demo where you hit A and it immediately jumps to the end of the message without any sounds. Recall in Banjo where you can press and hold A to simply speed it up a bit...

Re: Concerns of quality?

And speaking of nostalgia, my final point will be made in hearkening back to Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. Most of the appeal of Yooka-Laylee has been built around the nostalgia factor in getting a game in the same realm of BK and BT. I think the more we see of YL and the closer it gets, the more ...

Re: Concerns of quality?

I've always understood that this project wouldn't have the budget that Banjo-Threeie would have had, but I'll admit that I pictured everything being more polished when I saw the first scans in the magazine showing off these high-quality screenshots. Fast forward to the casino level and I see much mo...

Yeah, if the text speed-up function isn't fixed I'm going to have a serious bone to pick with Playtonic.

Re: Anyone else find that defeating enemies feels unsatisfying?

Yeah the lack of animation when idled in roll form is so blatantly unpolished that I didn't even question whether it would make it into the final game or not at that time. I just figured there's no way they'd allow it. After taking in all of these unpolished details, I'm not so quick to assume so.

Re: Anyone else find that defeating enemies feels unsatisfying?

Good point on the sound, that's also part of it. Needs a bit more punch to the impact.

I know it sounds small, but its definitely high up on the things-I-hope-they-change list.

Re: Making the Switch

No need to waste resources on a dead console. It's a smart move and most nintendo fans are dedicated enough to be sold on the Switch this early on anyway. I get why people are upset but in this day and age I personally feel you have no real reason not to have a decent computer. Sell your Wii U and b...

Anyone else find that defeating enemies feels unsatisfying?

Not a big fan of the tail spin. I don't like how spammable it is and I don't like the lack of oomph once it connects on an enemy. Even worse, the enemies this time around don't seem to react in satisfying ways. They poof just right before they hit the ground. In Banjo you would see the force of your...

Re: Toybox feedback & discussion thread (SPOILERS)

Character Dialogue When pressing A to speed up dialogue, it currently skips to the end of a phrase. This is a little confusing, as I am used to holding A to speed up dialogue, and having control over the rate of character speech. I also miss hearing the mumbles, even sped up. That was like, half of...

Re: Nostalgia in a box

Yep, DEFINITELY the pause screen. Must have spent a good 10 minutes just shifting between the options to hear and familiarize myself with the dialogue sounds. I absolutely love all of them (even the Pagie has one!) Also, near the end when you finish, it seems like Yooka and Laylee seem to go into th...

Re: Interiors: Dr Puzz/Trowzer Building?

In general, comfy interiors are incredibly important to me. Not just with major characters, but with small sidequests like the tiptup school, or the shell's interior in Treasure Trove. The music fading into it's echoey cave variation, the shrinking/increasing jiggy logo transition effect, the hidden...

Re: Edge magazine material analytics

One of my favorite Banjo-Kazooie memories was the mystery of the Click Clock Wood puzzle. As I'm sure most people here are aware, you could find it very early on in the game, but couldn't actually complete it until reaching the uppermost rooms of Grunty's Lair. I wasn't big on using guide books or ...

Re: Edge magazine material analytics

In an instant every worry I have ever had about this project dissipated. Sentence after sentence, my grin grew wider. The attention to animation (with the rollout's fluditiy! Damnit, Sutherland, I love you for going into that!), physics/intertia--even the attention to voices, for crying out loud! I ...

Re: Not quite Playtonic, but Banjo N&B anyone?

From what I recall, the spacious worlds would be much too empty to maintain the illusion for me, but I can't deny I'm impressed by his tenacity. If I ever feel like booting that game up again, I'll definitely have to put that method to the test, just to verify.

Re: Which do you prefer?

In my mind, they could add on a bit and color Laylee's wings, but I'd have to see it to decide. Replacing the eyes for that Yooka pattern was excellent. I say keep the flatter look, add the gold rims from the original and it's perfect. Brighter vs darker colors depends on what their doing behind the...

Could be remembering it wrong, but I'm fairly certain they debunked that cave-face as an actual character/villain in the recent discussion with DK Vine. Something about one of their artists just doing it on the spot.

Re: I like the resemblance

Yep, by far my favorite screenshot. The lighting, bubbles and contrasting pinks--all too good. I'm now fully open to having a section that has us exploring the deep abyss of an ocean. That pink has me picturing some playful neon coloring, maybe something kinda similar to Tropical Freeze http://i.yti...
