Re: COUNTDOWN: Yooka-Laylee Released Today!

Are we looking at the usual UK 6pm release for Steam do we think?

Re: will backers get the game slightly early?

RE: STEAM: I'd be surprised if we got it early now. We're just in the pool with all the other pre-orders on Steam surely. Nice to know it's all queued up and ready to go when it does hit anyway.

Xbox Q, so it's letting you download it yep? That's a step further than us! Is it pre-loaded and locked?

Re: Concerns of quality?

I think Dan makes a great point re: gaming of today. We see a lot about a game before it releases, unless we lock ourselves away from it. I posted a while ago asking if people thought the current 'walkthrough culture' in gaming could negatively affect Yooka-Laylee reviews and reception. You know how...

Re: Glitterglaze Glacier gameplay! (gameplay spoilers within)

That ice key thing did amuse. I like what they did there. I honestly thought that it would get stuck in the lock, or just simply not open, with no following explanation as a cheeky joke. Nice. There are a couple more videos online of previews via WhatCulture Gaming and GamesRadar if you want to chec...

Re: Steam early activation?

My main concern is needing to wait on receiving a code, while the game is otherwise activated for buyers on Steam. Just make sure you can access your backerkit survey so you don't need to wait on an email when they start sending them out. Ah yes, thanks for this. I was expecting waiting on an email...

Steam early activation?

Apologies if this has been covered already. Just wondering if Steam backers will be receiving activation codes before the Day One release, so it can be activated and then ready to download on release? A little worried about waiting on email activation as a backer when the game is available for other...

Re: Difficulty level in Yooka-Laylee

I honestly don't understand people who buy a game only to then follow a walk through, because surely the fun is in discovering and working things out for yourself? What is the point? Yep I completely agree. I know two people personally who go walkthrough from the off with games. - I can't understan...

Re: Difficulty level in Yooka-Laylee

I don't think it will be difficult in a gameplay sense, but have a litte bit of clout to it in terms of puzzles and finding everything needed to move forward. I'm hoping it's a bit of gameplay and puzzles though, as if it's just puzzles you'll get the classic 'this game is too short, downvote lolz',...

Re: Tinfoil Hat Time

There is a bit of stigma around exclusives so it would be some bad PR early days I expect, but if it's possible and the money's right then who can say? As a PC gamer we're quite often late to the party with delayed releases or broken ports so I'm pretty used to it, but as an early backer I'm really ...

Re: Making the Switch

Often games are released to the lowest common denominator which ends up limiting PC releases to current console generation hardware. In a way it's a little encouraging that they're looking to beef up the game so it's more demanding, but I can understand why those that have been around backing this t...

Yooka-Laylee launch date in line with Switch launch?

I was wondering about the March 2017 release date. Could it be something to do with tying in to be a Switch launch title? (albeit of course not exclusive). Could be a coincidence but for both to be hitting in March seems a little odd. Admittedly I'm not the most avid follower of this stuff so you ma...

New footage of the scrapped GoldenEye XBLA Reskin

Guys might have seen this already but thought I'd post it to some hopefully like minded people. I'm all for Banjo but have a real soft spot for GoldenEye. Ahh what I'd give to get hands on this build. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRRuhviJGMQ Aware of the stalemate that caused the cancellat...

The game's general reception in the modern gaming culture

It's been quite a long time since Banjo-Kazooie... Personally I'm looking forward to going into Yooka-Laylee like it's 1999!, without any pre-knowledge of the game's worlds, it's story and puzzles. Not keen to have aspects of the game spoiled is partly the intention but the main reason for this appr...

Pledge survey

I just completed the pledge survey, selected my name for credits and the Steam final version. I was a little confused by the other question though, it just asked me to select a preferred colour from a list of 6 or so. Anyone know what this was all about?

Re: FALLOUT 4.

I plan to get it early on PC but not day one. Want to see how well its optimised and that lark. My PC would possibly struggle with specs so it might need a GPU upgrade. If Rare announce Goldeneye HD remaster or something of dimilar ibterest then I'll probably go down the Xbox One route.

Re: That one Rare title you hate?

I played DKC1 and 2 to death when they came out. In only checked out DKC3 in the last 5 years or so. I wasn't overly shot on it but thought it was due to looking back on it. I didn't really get the Kiddy Kong thing either. Perfect Dark Zero is by far the most disappointing Rare game I've played and ...

Re: A Gameplay Concern

You could have a 'blob shadow' function but not an actual shadow. Something like when Yooka jumps, Laylee fires a beam of light to the floor to determine the landing point for the gamer. It's a different approach to solve an old issue, but there will be criticism of whatever is implemented here. Lik...
