Re: A sticky for Commonly Posted Posts might be good soon

Ah, good thinkin'. We'll discuss the notion with Andy - one way we may want to approach it would be to consolidate all dupe threads in with the first one to pose the question, and make that sticky. But we also don't want people forced to scroll through a bunch of stickies to get to the other posts, ...

Re: Careful With Competition

I'm one of the writers on Lobodestroyo, and I assure you everyone at Left Handed Games is absurdly excited to play (and back) Ukelele! The more modern entries in this genre, the better!

Ah, thanks for posting, Scraps! Cheers!

Glad to hear the positive feedback about the show. It was a genuine thrill to get to talk to Chris, despite the fact that he was belligerently drunk the entire time!

Re: New Guy and Reason Why I'm Here

Oh, yeah, I totally get what you mean. DK Vine was created in the late nineties as a parody of obsessive fan culture. The only problem was, we actually were obsessive fans. Thankfully Rare's output really supported that basic irony, and a community was born. The site's had its ebbs and flows in the ...

Re: New Guy and Reason Why I'm Here

Is this another joke from DK Vine? Or is this genuine (in which case,  )? As one of the two guys who created DKVine in 1999, I can assure you we're not here to be disruptive (though sadly I can't speak for some of our community's more - ahem - VOCAL members). We're just fond of ...

Re: Anyone else notice the inexplicable lack of Googly eyes?

Poor George Ice Cube. Brazenly murdering him and then shattering his wife was possibly the darkest thing in Banjo-Tooie... and this is a game that obliterated one of its central characters in the first 10 minutes.

Love it. ALL OF IT.

Re: Will a goldfish tap the side of his bowl three times?

Well Roysten is (presumably) owned by Microsoft, so that's probably out. But, y'know, say it's just a vaguely defined cartoon goldfish that happens to tap on his bowl three times in succession, and might have been grilled at some point in the past (not to mention smashed by a boulder, eaten by a mol...

Re: Will a goldfish tap the side of his bowl three times?

Speaking of terminal illnesses, I would even be OK if the hypothetical unnamed goldfish that taps on the side of his bowl three times has a terminal illness in the game. It seems something like that could, perhaps, continue the spiritual saga of fictional goldfish we might have known in the past. #3...

Re: Stop 'n' Swop done right - Connecting multiple games!

Multi-platform cross-purchase would seem like the fairest way to facilitate this, but I can only imagine what a nightmare that would be to arrange. It'd probably require a central hub to communicate with all the various stores' APIs, checking whether you own each title on any of the platforms. Proba...

Re: Kickstarter Stretch Goals

I'm gonna have to support the stretch goal idea of having an inconspicuous goldfish somewhere in the game who taps on his bowl three times. Agreed. I also rather like the NPC-naming idea, which Scribes aficionados will remember already happened in Banjo-Tooie! That's how we were graced with the lik...

Stop 'n' Swop done right - Connecting multiple games!

I had this notion in a thread that's since been buried, but I think it could spark some interesting conversation: I have to wonder that now, in an era when games are downloaded from eShops and Steam, and stored on a local harddrive without the need for cartridges and discs... wouldn't it theoretical...

Re: Thoughts on an Open World?

Personally, I preferred the Tooie balance, as it made for more interesting puzzles and interaction between characters. I think one of the frustrations people felt in playing Tooie was that they entered the experience trying to play it like B-K. That is, entering a world, beating it 100%, and moving ...

Re: High-level world design in Ukulele

Yeah, imagine a Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie hybrid that simply didn't have rocks blocking the entrances in Grunty's Lair? Run all the way from the stage at Furnace Fun to the Tower of Tragedy from Tooie! In fact, I always suspected that might've been the original larger goal of Stop 'n' Swop. NOT TO BRING T...

Re: Sneaky playtonic hiding it in plain site!

Oh man - if this character is a chameleon, it would immediately bring into focus their comment about spoiling the gameplay possibilities.

So on the extreme conditional that it *is* a chameleon.... well, I reckon that would introduce some interesting gameplay possibilities.

Re: Will a goldfish tap the side of his bowl three times?

Despite knowing almost nothing about Project Ukulele, I agree that the inclusion of an unnamed goldfish that taps the side of his bowl three times in succession would really tie together the game's entire experience.

Inter-connected world and multi-game design in Ukulele?

Fantastic work on building the worlds we've seen at EGX today! The hub shot in particular is looking very "Isle O' Hags." Are we to assume that the overall game and distinct worlds will be more interconnected, ala Banjo-Tooie? That was one of the major elements of that title that really pu...
