Re: Your PERSONAL Yooka-Laylee reviews

Yooka-Laylee left me a tad disappointed. The game lacks polish and generally appears like it's only half finished. Things that contribute to this sentiment are the lack of variety in enemy and other npc characters, the small number of levels, and the fact that some levels are basically the same asse...

Re: Final Boss Fight Frustrations (obvious spoilers)

When he combines the groundwaves and bees, you only have a rather short time window for the move. The key is to be so close to him when he creates the wave that you can jump over it almost instantly, which gives you enough time to fire up Sonar 'Splosion and get moving before he comes down again.

Re: Wishes For Twooka Laylee (Non official name)

Briketto Blanco Yay, I'm not the only German speaking guy on these forums :) I think he's "Old King Coal" in the English original version. Speaking about localization, it's nice that YL has this at all, but the translation leaves a lot to be desired. I first wanted to play in German for n...

Re: Rextro and kartos

I wish Kartos was an integral part of some levels instead of a gem collecting mini game. I wouldn't actually mind the rides to be more difficult if it would focus on the platforming and completely drop the collecting (because just surviving a Kartos ride WAS easy in Yooka-Laylee). Yeah, I suck at 2...

Re: Rextro and kartos

DK64 did Kart sections slightly better than YL as far as I'm concerned (at least the tracks looked nice and you didn't have to sprint into obstacles you couldn't see), but those section still are waaaaay below the 2D sections of the classic or "Returns" series of DKC imo.

Re: Ambient Noise in Video Games

DKC 2 also had the sound of waves for ship levels, wind in the rigs, insects in the swamp, clanking metal in the mines, fireworks on the roller coaster. David Wise absolutely got this too imo.

Re: How would you have changed the story/ending sequence? [obvious SPOILERS]

Like many things in YL, the story seems only half-finished. You have only a few levels, many repetitions in design assets, challenges and characters, unpatched bugs, and the story gives us a major cliffhanger. A cliffhanger is okay once in a while, but maybe if you're looking to make a grand comebac...

Re: Donkey Kong country 2, best 2d platform game?

For me it is.. The music is really good, level are not easy, and he haves a lot of secret in each level.. Honestly finding all special coin in the game is hard. I find secret are hard to find but they are honest and well made.. For me this game is the best 2d game ever made? what you think? For me ...

Re: Capital Cashino - 1 token missing bug

did you check the top of the flagpole in the golf course? there is one hidden there and that took me an HOUR to find. there is also one hidden under a ramp. You.. You are kidding right..? At the very least I don't remember collecting one from the flag pole and there is none there. So my assumption ...

Re: Rextro and kartos

Also it's a good point that Rextro's games don't really qualify as retro. They give more of a Mario party vibe (to me at least) in that they are 3D graphics from a fixed perspective and limited controls. If they had made games in actual pixel graphics, with 8/16 bit music to boot, yeah, those are re...

Re: Rextro and kartos

Heh, funny. My main complaint with Kartos is that it's no challenge to reach the end of the track, but you have that secondary task thrown at you instead. I really hoped Kartos would be exactly like those old DKC mine levels, and was disappointed with him being just another mini game about collectin...

Re: Ideas for worlds

I assumed the DLC would be 1 world, but I hadn't considered 0. I'd be curious to see what the DLC is at ALL if it's not a world though. Here are some "prepare for the worst" suggestions: - Alternate costumes - The ability to challenge bosses you already beat. Seriously, why is this not in...

Re: New Fighing project future

Personally, I enjoy fighting games a lot, but I have to agree that Playtonic should rather focus on platformers. There are quite some good fighting games out there without them contributing, while the platformer section could really use more love.

Re: 'Donkey Kong 64' Speed Runner Finds new Collectible 17 Years After the Games Release

Uh, I actually found this back in the day. Simply put, I heard that the walking sound was different, tried a few things and then somehow came to the point where I tried that super attack. Was rather disappointed that a coin was all I got. Context: In DK64's manual Cranky talks about an additional le...

After posting about a roach NPC hosting a run-down hotel, I kinda want to see that happen.

Also, I was going to sleep in a minute... "Thanks" for that rat thing. *Shiver*

Re: Favorite worlds in BK, BT, DK64?

My favourites:
BK: Clanker's Cavern, Mad Monster Mansion
BT: Witchyworld, Grunty Industries
DK64: Frantic Factory

I love industrial and eery levels. Also Clanker is easily my favourite character from the games.
