Re: Ideas for worlds

I really like the "tourist beach" idea, but I think the theme should be altered a bit to be more different to Spiller's Harbour. Here's my take: RACKET'S RESORT A run down hotel/camping site next to a Loch Ness style lake. Comes complete with bickering british couple at a tent, mystery hun...

Re: Ideas for worlds

RESORT or TOURIST BEACH world -> polluted beach, a giant hotel, a drilling rig, kinda like a mix between rusty bucket bay and treasure trove cove. CIRCUS world Without trying to be a grinch, these two are rather similar to BKGR's Spiller's Harbour and Witchyworld, respectively. Perhaps we just have...

Re: Yooka-Laylee: General Discussion Thread

Yes, the number of different NPCs in YL is really small. There are no more than 6 conceptually different enemies in YL, and of the non-enemy NPCs, more are reused in at least three levels than there are unique ones. Kazooie gave you ghosts, termites, "Groblin Hood", crabs, piranhas, treasu...

Re: Wishes For Twooka Laylee (Non official name)

Here's an idea (edit: kinda expands on what Spydr Webz wrote): Keep the fully expanded world at about the same size, but divide the levels into different themes, one of which becomes available from the start, while you need to expand it to get access to the others. For example, consider Moody Maze M...

Just to make sure: You're not talking about the whistling sound the "Hunter" Tonic makes to help you find hidden stuff, right?

Re: Ideas for worlds

Let's see, what are Rare's level archetypes and have they already been done in Yooka-Laylee? Ice stage (DKC, DKC2, DKC3, BK, BT, DK64, YL) - Check Industrial (DKC, DKC3, BT, DK64, YL more or less) - Half-Check Jungle (DKC, DKC2, DKC3, BT, DK64, YL) - Check Pirates (DKC2, BK, BT, DK64, YL hinted at) ...

Re: DK64 / Yooka-laylee , difference

Personally, I had the most trouble with world 2. Because where you enter a "door" and where you come out after that just seems not connected in any logical pattern. Your direction is turned, the height level changed... For a long time, I thought the area you start in and meet Trowzer is an...

Re: The music was good, but not what I was expecting

I love both guys' music. However, I connect Wise with 2D platforming and Grant with the banjoesque 3D adventures for obvious reasons. I think letting Wise do the music for most of the 2D passages (minigames, Kartos) was the only plausible way to have both of them in one game, but I feel it still is...

Any idea how this was done? It looks as if the game actually contains all the 3D information. Very interesting.

Re: Yooka-laylee is better than bk,bt,dk64?

" I expected them to learn from the mistakes in DK64." This is a claim of objectivity. You are implying that DK64's maps are mistakes. Playtonic themselves have acknowledged that the Rare fanbase seems to be split on favoring BK sized worlds and BT/DK64 sized worlds. Whatever. They are mi...

Re: Yooka-laylee is better than bk,bt,dk64?

@FailureFactory You didn't write your post as if you personally prefer smaller worlds though. You literally said that DK64 was a bad game with objective mistakes and that Rare should have learned from that. I never claimed objectivity, which makes me wonder whether you misused the word "litera...

Re: JonTron's Voice Found?

KNEW I RECOGNISED IT. Yeah it doesn't fit Yookas character at all. I hope they change it for the next game. I haven't played the game (waiting for Switch) but from the small amount I've heard Yooka's voice I thought it sounded like Sexy Grunty crossed with Jolly Roger. Which you'll agree doesn't su...

@FailureFactory Some of us don't find the DK64 level design to be flawed, speak for yourself. This is a thread asking for our opinion. Who else should I be speaking for if not myself? I honestly don't get what's your complaint here. That I disagree with you at all? About the other thing, it's suffi...

Re: Favorite Rare Music

Clanker's Cavern. Followed by Hook's March, then Mining Melancholy. I loved pretty much the entire soundtrack of BK and DKC2. I can't stop repeat it: If you love Banjo-Kazooie music, support Blake Robinson & buy his Banjo-Kazooie Symphony album on iTunes or wherever. It's really a craft of love ...

Re: A list of Issues I Have with the game.

.....So what are the pros? It's a game by people who made great games in the past. It's not as great as some of those, but that's really tough competition. It's funny. It's nostalgic. It has some cool bosses. It hasn't promised us Stop 'n Swop without actually implementing it. A sequel may always i...

Re: [Bug] Repeatable way to make game fail to load most assets in Capital Cashino

I found a way to load into Capital Cashino with most interior assets missing. What you can still see are enemies, collectables, and certain casino games. This can be used to easily see the location of any collectables remaining in the map, and requires an exit to hub to fix. To reproduce, transform...

Re: Yooka Laylee difficulty. What do you think?

That's interesting to me that you found the first boss the hardest. I found the first boss to be piss-easy. I didn't get hit more than twice and beat him with ease. I found the world 4 boss to be among the toughest, tied with the final boss. Those two made me try half a dozen times on each one unti...
