Re: Yooka-Laylee: General Discussion Thread

13 Pagies in, just decided to open up Glitterglaze Glacier rather than expand World 1. Like most other people in this thread, I am absolutely LOVING this game so far. I played through the I unexpanded first world and did as much as I could, and I'll probably continue in the same fashion until I have...

Re: GameXplain - Yooka-Laylee's Patch

Glad to hear this, although I couldn't care less about framerate drops and minor graphical glitches as long as the game remains above 30 fps (going back and trying to play Banjo-Tooie on the N64 is a nightmare with it's incredibly low fps). I sincerely doubt that the DLC is backer-exclusive. That wo...

Re: POLL: Playtonic Kart Racer + Online Multiplayer

I would definitely buy a Kart Racer made by Playtonic featuring characters from Yooka-Laylee, as well as characters of potential future titles. And yes, online multiplayer is a must. I do think, however, that Playtonic needs a couple more games under their belt in order to establish their universe a...

Re: I've Played Yooka-Laylee: My Thoughts (Spoiler-free)

SPOILERS!! I just read this Kotaku article: http://kotaku.com/yooka-laylee-brings-back-banjo-kazooie-s-best-easter-eg-1794038111 It states that there are actually TWO ice keys in the game. Most of us are aware of the first ice key and that it is used to expand the second world, but what use is there...

Re: gameXplain's terrible review

I suggest you take off your fanboy goggles, take a breather and try to calm down. I know you find it hard to accept that people have criticisms of the game, but they do. The points made in that review are valid points. If you love the game so much then mind your own business and play it. You cannot...

Re: N64 graphics

Is it bad that I hope for a graphical N64 style game and perhaps setting the limitations of it such as the size of the levels i.e. the structure and general size of Banjo levels? I would love a game like that but allowing the developers the freedom of todays memory so the likes of the likes of musi...

Re: Why isn't Switch version development number one priority?

I've seen plenty of extremely favorable reviews. Like stated above, the majority of unfavorable reviews are from those who simply don't understand the gameplay, or don't understand the nostalgia factor that we all have. I'm confident I'll enjoy it... a lot of the "negatives" that I read ab...

Re: I've Played Yooka-Laylee: My Thoughts (Spoiler-free)

Is there any sort of "secret" or "surprise" for completing the game 100%? Basically, any reason to complete it 100% besides just being able to say you did it? Spoilers! All I'll say is that a special Tonic may exist . Despite this game's (and its predecessors') focus on gameplay...

Re: (spoiler?) About the game length and how finding all secrets will take much, much longer. Consistent framerate for

However -- how many pagies do you need to fight the final boss?... ;) Now THAT's the question. And if we defeat him... only to discover he was not the final boss? And we need EVEN MORE pagies to defeat the next? Now THAT would be interesting. Although I won't get my hopes up for that. I remember my...

Re: (spoiler?) About the game length and how finding all secrets will take much, much longer. Consistent framerate for

The game is most definitely not a 35-hour playthrough just to reach the final boss without 100%. I've played many story driven games from RPGs to shooters that don't even come close to this. A platformer certainly isn't anywhere near as time-consuming as those. Then again, it all depends on your pla...

Re: N64 graphics

I don't feel like finding it right now, but if I recall correctly, I vaguely remember a Playtonic team member clarifying somewhere that the "N64 graphics" options is simply a shader, NOT a feature that will alter the actual graphics (character models, items, objects, etc.) in any way. Don'...

Re: What custom theme can you come up with?

I love this thread! Great ideas! There's a lot of ideas surrounding the 'haunted' theme, probably because you can take almost any other theme and give it a haunted twist. I would do a 'haunted shipwreck cavern,' basically an undersea cave where various shipwrecks have somehow occurred. Possible name...

Re: New video from Capital Casino... Bugs remain?

I had the same concerns as you while watching the gameplay. My main concern is the tail spin move, which I'll admit looks a little neater, but also still looks incredibly cheap. I noticed that whoever was playing tried to switch it up every once in a while and use some other attacks like the ground ...

Re: How do you guys feel on the swimming part of the game?

I disliked the swimming mechanics at first because my brain wanted to control the swimming parts the way I controlled Banjo and Kazooie swimming for all these years. But yeah, you get used it. It's really not so bad, and it works equally as well as the BK games. I just wish you could swim forward fa...

Re: Anyone else find that defeating enemies feels unsatisfying?

Yeah, the Egyptian walls make sense. As stated by someone above, Casinos always have themes like this, usually relating to gold, treasure, or another form of riches (Royal palace, Egyptian pyramid/tomb, Pirate ship, etc.). I really hope that the other things that look unpolished get taken care of th...

Re: Yooka-Laylee Soundtrack Sneak-peak?

Anybody else as excited as I am to hear the music for the final battle with Capital B? Grant's "final battle themes" have always been among my favorite of his tracks for these games. I still listen to the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 final battle themes all the time. Despite the techni...

Re: Should the Toy-Box be made available to all ks backers?

Yes, it should be made available to everyone. It sucks that there are people who backed it from the beginning but didn't back it at a high enough tier, and now have no access to the Toybox. I'm not really sure how easy it would be for Playtonic to handle that, however. It's an unfortunate situation....

Re: Anyone else find that defeating enemies feels unsatisfying?

I also agree with this, and it's one of the things I'm actually weirdly worried about. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but the tail spin attack just seems "cheap" as you put it. Maybe it's the animation itself? I don't know. It doesn't appear very satisfying to me. Another thing...

Re: Number of Worlds

I agree with the above post. An entire world as DLC would be pretty huge. It'd be cool, but I don't see it happening. What I think is more likely is perhaps costumes that Yooka and Laylee can wear, or multiplayer gametypes or at most, an interesting new move or ability that the duo can learn.
