Re: New video from Capital Casino... Bugs remain?

I know we've talked about that particular thing at length but I still feel like the "dwellings" don't add much and only existed to push stuff like Mumbo into a separately loaded area. Don't really see how it helps world building that a character would have a permanent residence in like 6 d...

Re: WHY can't Playtonic Games explain why they can't announce a Switch date?

There's nothing to ship for the NS though. That's the brilliant thing about it! Distribution of download codes takes like a week with intercontinental bureaucracy. Literally you tell Nintendo "Hey, here's $x for y download codes for our game (paying for Nintendo's cut of regular sales). Please...

Re: WHY can't Playtonic Games explain why they can't announce a Switch date?

Your post fails to address any of my stated concerns. If you claim that a bait and switch is not possible to double sales from NS port backers, then why have a survey deadline at all? If they were being fair, they would set the survey deadline to be after they get all information regarding the NS p...

Re: WHY can't Playtonic Games explain why they can't announce a Switch date?

Actually, it is a gamble if backers want to play it on Day 1. What if PG uses bait and switch to force people to select NS digital? Then the NS port gets delayed. Then the backer would need to buy a physical PS4 copy to play on Day 1. The person loses money in this case. PG makes double the money. ...

Re: WHY can't Playtonic Games explain why they can't announce a Switch date?

If you want the Switch version I would just assume it is going to be after launch. Like people seem hopeful and I am sure PG themselves are hopeful but realistically I'd expect a couple months later at least. It would have been nice if they could have opened the surveys sooner, for sure, but we're c...

Re: WHY can't Playtonic Games explain why they can't announce a Switch date?

If you want a date before they have one it is gonna be something you don't want to hear. If they were to say "we're aiming to have this out at launch" then couldn't get it done by then, people would be real mad that they "lied" about when the Switch version was releasing. It does...

Re: Steam early activation?

I guess that's not the case. If you go digital, you're bound to the official release date, since the activation is, well, digitally timed to said date. Only physical copies will appear early in stores, as far as I know. So even if you get the code, steam will probably only offer a preload and keep ...

Re: Differences between systems

I've been wondering a lot of the same stuff, since Unity has a pretty spotty history with console support. If the footage way back in the summer where PlayStation Access played the demo even then it held a pretty steady framerate, though the shadows were a bit not great compared to the PC version. T...

Re: Not very happy

Understandable. The thing you should take from this is that backing a game on Kickstarter is not the same as pre-ordering it. Nah, I think it's more important what we take from this is Playtonic is just another generic indie dev. Despite hundreds of years of cumulative experience in the industry am...

Re: Not very happy

Understandable. The thing you should take from this is that backing a game on Kickstarter is not the same as pre-ordering it. It is giving money to a project you want to get made with the knowledge that it could look very different by the time it releases, and that stuff could go wrong. Trying to fi...

Re: Switch is confirmed!

Like announcing a kickstarter for a game they'd love to develop for the Wii U, and to ensure it's done right, they'd develop it themselves directly on the Wii U and have the PS4 and XBO and Mac just be ports............ couple things: 1. Yes, I would rather they learn from the misstep with the Wii-...

What does that even mean. It means the game is finished. Yeah, finished as in "no more bug fixing", let alone main development time. Now they're preparing distribution and marketing efforts, probably (well, and the other little thing many of us seem to be waiting for). Not really the case...

Re: Switch is confirmed!

So what do you suggest? Should they magically get a port ready over night? Nintendo screwed themselves with how they set up the Wii U, that is the big point that stands above everything. Seriously, I'm out of these discussions. Once the Switch version is out and we receive the next games by Playton...

Yeah I mean if you have a PC that can run it just play with a controller on a TV, since that will undoubtedly be the best version of the game.

Re: If the Switch Version Comes Later...

I think it does. They managed to get amazing games working on N64 hardware. Why not on Wii U hardware? Some of their talent was lost developing only for the Xbox/360/One. Alright if you really want to break it down, let's: -Yooka-Laylee's lead platform was the PC, Not Wii-U -That makes it not an is...

Re: If the Switch Version Comes Later...

Eh, If they handle the port them Let's remember that Playtonic themselves were developing the Wii U version and failed at it. Are we sure that we really want them developing for the Switch version by themselves? Yes, since that stuff is almost entirely unrelated to the Switch version. The Wii-U is ...

Re: Should the Toy-Box be made available to all ks backers?

Agreed. Silence is never good from a KS. Silence is bad from a Kickstarter when nothing has been shown or said about the game in a long stretch of time. Playtonic is a team of around 20 people who are not very far off at all from launching a game, probably in crunch now trying to make sure everythi...
