Re: chris houlihan room?

I would rather the Kickstarter rewards not interfere with the actual game itself. The only exception I'd make is if someone wanted to donate a lot of money, which would make the game better overall.

Re: Future of Platforming?

"The spiritual successor -- or simply Game 01 , as it's called internally -- is described as Playtonic's 'first objective', after which its ambition is to tackle new genres, but only if its brainstorms lead there naturally." ~ EDGE Magazine I really think it's all just an organic process. ...

Re: Future of Platforming?

Yes, we're living in a good time for retro-styled gamers like ourselves! :) they just said there focus is platformers right now & i was wondering if that would include 2D ones as well? I don't believe they've said this? They said their focus is THE platformer -- Project Ukulele. After that, anyt...

Re: Keep a tight rein on fan input

I agree with this. Listen to the fans and make smart decisions -- but don't be a slave to the fans. Give the fans what they want, but remember that you can't please everybody . I also think direct fan input, like lending our voices etc., should be very limited. In other words, I don't think it'll ma...

Re: JonTron in Project Ukelele

I don't mind if Jon voices a character. I don't watch his stuff, but I have seen it and he's a funny guy with a large fan base. My thinking is -- why not ? Sure, don't let everyone voice a character, but Jon is a bit of a special exception I don't mind happening. He's not going to singlehandedly rui...

Re: Future of Platforming?

DIDDY KONG RACING SPIRITUAL SUCCESSER! A lot of people agree with this. Game 02, after Ukulele, should be a kart racer featuring characters from Ukulele and other quirky guys that will go on to feature in their own games eventually. as for platformers & collectionathons are they guna limit them...

Re: Physical Retail Release

Physical copies are great, but I don't want Playtonic to blow their budget on such a thing. I personally want the greatest game possible -- if that means it's stuck to digital, then fine. Maybe physical copies can be a Kickstarter reward, but again I'd want most of the donations to go towards the ga...

Re: Guess the final Kickstarter total

I think Playtonic want to get £5,000,000 in an ideal world. Years ago on their Mingy Jongo twitter, they suggested that figure. They may have been exaggerating though... I'm going to guess £1,000,000. I would wish for more, but I'm not sure how big the fan interest truly is. I mean, it's big, but is...

Re: What in the world are "Pagies"?

I thought Pagies implied book pages, not musical scores. The musical idea does sound pretty cool though. We cannot really speculate on just a name; we'll need to wait for a few more details to slip out...

Re: Careful With Competition

This is nothing close to a competition, this is a revival of a genre. Basically this. The more 3D platformers in development, the better. I can guarantee that some of the bigger game studious have noticed the renewed interest in platforming and are planning some of their own right now. Remember tha...

Re: Characters should age over time

I somewhat disagree. I think the characters should become known and lovable -- frozen in time just like Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, The Simpsons etc. (I know there's occasionally some ageing, but they don't change much). Sure, we could have flashback/flash-forward games in the future, just like Grunt...

Re: Things that you DO NOT want in this game.

Well, hello guys. I'm new to this forum. Welcome! :) non-gameplay elements I agree -- keep the cinematics down, just like in Banjo-Kazooie. There were only a few at the beginning and the end of that game. switch's cutscenes You have to remember that if you're playing the game for the first time, yo...

Re: Replay Value -- Ideas?

A Tamagotchi-style world, with Jinjo-like characters... :o Please Playtonic listen to this guy! What I wouldn't give for a Sonic Adventure 3 with chao garden.... I gotta say, the idea of a Chao Garden-like mechanic sounds great in pretty much any game. You see this Playtonic? Get on that Tamogotchi...

Re: Suggestion: Create another board index

Once the forum gets big enough, perhaps you can allow for other categories, for people who want to discuss other things like games they play on their systems and whatnot. For now, though, I think the suggested boards are good enough, since Playtonic Games just made these forums. That would come und...

Re: Suggestion: Create another board index

I would also say no to sub-forums for the time being. The number of active users are likely to fall in the next few days/weeks (until another cool announcement is made) -- if there are loads of sub-forums, there will be loads of dead sub-forums. Although, with that said, I like the idea of splitting...

Re: Who is this character?

Perhaps it's a long shot, but do we think they'd perhaps take a lesser known character from one of their past games and feature them in this? Example: Rubee's pet Toots could be that pink bird-like figure. Rare/Microsoft own all characters, even minor ones, from their games. Playtonic don't have th...

Re: Suggestion: Create another board index

The forums definitely needs some organising, that's for sure. Project Ukulele, Playtonic Games and 'General' are the only main categories I think we need at the moment. Not sure how to divide them further, but your suggestions seem more or less right.

Re: Things that you DO NOT want in this game.

I guess one more thing is sometimes a problem with collecting/exploration games is the worlds get too sprawling and have not enough content in them so you just spend a lot of time walking from A to B. I don't think that will happen here, though. Completely agree. I found Nuts & Bolts like this ...
