Re: Should Project Ukulele have vehicles?

No. Absolutely not. The only vehicles I want to see are Canary Mary/Boggy-type races. A racing mini-game, or some type of object you can use to move a bit faster (like the bike from the Pokemon games) is the only vehicle-based gaming I will enjoy.

I loathed Nuts & Bolts' building element.

Re: Diddy Kong Racing Esque game in the future?

http://forums.playtonicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21 - Quite a lot of kart racer requests in this thread. Obviously we're looking a bit too far ahead though -- Ukulele should remain the focus for now. I think a DK Racer-type game would be the perfect choice for Playtonic's second game, filled...

Re: Replay Value -- Ideas?

Challenges/achievements would be pretty easy to implement and could add a lot of replay value, e.g. [*]Time trials/speedruns - for individual levels or the entire game (or both!) [*]Increased difficulty - less player health/more enemy health, etc. [*]Permadeath - finish the game without dying! I ca...

Re: Voice acting?

For the record, I agree that everyone should get the exact same game and experience regardless of their bank balance. But Kickstarter is all about enticing people with rewards to donate as much as they can. If you don't donate a lot, you can't meet the rewards. That's just how Kickstarter works.

Re: Voice acting?

I don't think the Kickstarter pledges will be in direct proportion to the creative ability or good judgement of the people behind them, and I'm not a fan of seeing people have more influence than others because of the amount of money they have to spend, so I'm kind of opposed to that as well. But I...

Re: Voice acting?

I hope it's BK voices, and I hope they don't just let fans do them. Agreed. Chris Sutherland could do all the voices and I think I'd be happy with that. Don't care much for the guest stars ideas to be honest. I'm on the same boat. The issue I have with letting fans do the voices is that it won't ne...

Replay Value -- Ideas?

Obviously we don't have much to go on at the moment, so I'm envisioning Banjo-Kazooie here. After you 100% the game, there's not much left in terms of replay value, I don't think, until you decide to start a new file. You can explore the world again, but there's nothing to really keep you playing......

Re: What's the perfect balance of collectables?

I feel Kazooie got it right. Tooie was OK, but I think I preferred the old note system. The Jinjo system in Tooie was a little more interesting though, I guess, but I wouldn't mind either way. I guess what I'm saying is that a re-skin of the Kazooie/Tooie collectables would be fine with me. Donkey K...

Re: Kickstarter Stretch Goals

I hope game-changing rewards are very limited. I do not want loads of fans to do the voices etc. -- I feel it might mess up the quality of the game. If you're going to let fans voice some characters, keep it to the bare minimum.

Unless they offer to donate, like, £1,000,000. Then sure.

Re: Will a goldfish tap the side of his bowl three times?

While I'm sure all of us here would love to see POOP show up, it wouldn't be "returning" since it's never actually had a prior appearance to return from. I used returning to imply future Playtonic games -- POOP would feature in every one. Lots of POOP can't be a bad thing... I don't think.

Re: Kickstarter Stretch Goals

One thing I DON'T want to see is half-a-game at the base funding goal. I've seen too many Kickstarter projects promise features at higher funding levels that should be in the game to start with, or at least should not be explicitly tied to a dollar figure (extra levels, multiplayer etc), to encoura...

Who needs a returning goldfish character when you can have a returning POOP machine?

Re: Voice acting?

Imagine if the antagonist is mysterious all the way through and then right at the end there's a Mingy Jongo-type twist in which he reveals himself... and can speak. And his voice is absolutely terrifying... especially after playing a game with nothing but mumbles -- it'd throw you off a bit. I think...

Re: Voice acting?

Gibberish.Only ever Gibberish. Maybe one character talks normally and its an in-game joke or something. But everyone else gets gibberish. I like it! Like in Mel Brooks's Silent Movie where the only spoken line was delivered by famous mime artist Marcel Marceau. You might be onto something... would ...
