Re: Banjo and King K Rool in Smash!?

I'm not sure Nintendo would want to include Banjo in their game, as they'd be providing free advertising for one of their rivals IPs which is rumoured to be returning on Xbox at some point. 'Year of Rare' and all that business...

Re: Banjo having a deeper voice in Banjo-Tooie

It's been a while since I've played this but from memory is it right that Kazooie was unchanged but Banjo's voice was deeper? It might have just been about creating more of a contrast in the sounds of the main characters so they both sounded individual.

Or it could have been a sore throat... :)

Re: Kickstarter Reward: Early Access - Yes or No?

I'd be against early access too. I follow a couple of early access game on Steam, there are those that do it well like Prison Architect (which while well supported has been in Alpha a very long time and is admittedly heavy with bugs) but Next Car Game has had a poor update record while keeping follo...

Re: Donkey Kong 64 is coming to the Wii U VC!

I'm happy to see this but was wondering if they could also do the same for Banjo Kazooie, since it was an N64 game and it would be a port of that version I'm hoping it would be possible. What do we reckon? I'm ever hopeful because some time back I had an Xbox 360 but got rid of it after the horrend...

Nintendo Direct

What did people think about the Nintendo Direct reveal this evening? Personally I'm most optimistic about Mario Maker and a little about Yoshi's Woolly World. Signing off with confirmation of a free 200cc mode for Mario Kart 8 was a nice touch too. :Edit: Oh, also quite keen on Affordable Space Adve...

Re: The GoldenEye Saga

Crikey. If it was all done I'm amazed no deal was done. It'd have sold a lot I'm sure of it. Do you know what I mean though, a deal like this now would surely be beneficial to both Xbox and Nintendo. Even is they revived the in progress / mostly completed HD re-master as it'd run nicely on both cons...

Re: Favorite musics from Rare games

Echo precious point about Gangplank Galleon DKC1. Great song. Also really enjoyed Oil Drum Alley from the same game.

The elevator music from GoldenEye is a nice touch too.

The GoldenEye Saga

I know this is a little off topic, but I figured this would be the best place to find someone who knows the full story behind the GoldenEye rights etc. I understand that Rare had been working on an HD remaster for Xbox Live Arcade and the Wii quite some time ago, but that it was pulled. I’ve heard v...

Re: Revolutionary Ideas in Rare Games

I'm sure there were probably more examples of this but I was purely a console gamer back in the 90s and Goldeneye was my first memory of proper mission objectives within an FPS beyond collect red key, collect blue key etc.

Re: My Thoughts on Mario Party 10

I was pretty surprised at the new game mechanics in 10 and miss the old approach. Sure there's a bit of strategy to this car business but it's very limited based on how lucky you are with getting the special dice blocks. Additionally planning ahead doesn't work as well with three others in the cart,...

Re: The nature of game saves

I think save per collectible, so I guess per 'pagie'.

I'd be very surprised if they went down a save state route like so many modern games, that'd be horrendous.

Re: Steam Greenlight?

I don't understand the notion that a project like this wouldn't suit PC gaming. Indie and kind of retro stuff on Steam is massive and surely many PC only gamers these days grew up in the N64 days.

Re: Introductions!

I can still remember being amazed by Donkey Kong Country and how far ahead of anything else it was at the time. I'm more about gameplay than graphics so to see this game come along and do both so well was a real breath of fresh-air. I followed Rare's work through to the end of the N64 era and really...

N64 games

I was just having a look at the 'previously' page on Playtonic's site, which details games the team have been involved with in the past.
http://www.playtonicgames.com/previously.html

Is this an exhaustive list? Were these developers involved in either GoldenEye or the original Perfect Dark?

Re: Things that you DO NOT want in this game.

This might be a bit controversial, but I don't want to see Kickstarter content included such as fans "name an NPC", "name a level" etc. I'd rather they just made their game their way.

Re: Online Multiplayer?

As a first game I'd like to see full concentration on the single player aspect. Multiplayer / local co-op perhaps for one of the follow-up games?...
If they're looking at different genres within this world then perhaps there could be a specific 'party' type game further down the line.
