Re: New Character revealed: Rextro SixtyFourus

I'm just gonna quickly quote a couple paragraphs from the IGN article, just 'cause I can: Rextro’s role in Yooka-Laylee is as guardian of the arcade machines hidden on each level. Each world hides at least one secret arcade game encasing old-school gaming goodness, and completing its retro challenge...

Re: New Character revealed: Rextro SixtyFourus

If I had to guess, it could mean they've decided the Play Tokens (as they're calling them now) will be the note equivalent for the game after all, rather than a placeholder for something else. I mean, they used them for all the pre-alpha footage and probably scattered them about the levels they've b...

New Character revealed: Rextro SixtyFourus

So Playtonic Games revealed a new character via IGN today called Rextro SixtyFourus. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2015/11/11/yooka-laylee-unveils-a-brand-new-retro-gaming-character-ign-first He's a rather noticeably polygonal dinosaur character with a scanline overlay on him for even more retro effect...

Re: Who is the mystery butterfly.

The images you linked to are cropped and shrunk from larger pieces Dean Wilson made, and if you look at the full pieces you'd notice that there are multiple butterflies near Yooka and Laylee in each of them. Re: Controller for PC version?

You can use programs like Joy2Key to accept input from either and simulate keyboard inputs. While that is true, in most cases it's not ideal if the game natively accepts controller input, and in some cases it can actually cause conflicts, unless the game is programmed to ignore gamepad inputs when ...

Re: Controller for PC version?

As far as I know, there are two main controller APIs in Windows, XInput and DirectInput. XInput is the newer standard the XBox 360 and XBox One controllers use (as well as other XInput compatible controllers), while DirectInput is the older standard that most other (older) USB controllers use. Games...

Re: Price Range Of The Digital Ver. Of The Game

I just checked both those links and I got $46.99 on GOG.com and $59.99 on Steam, there is indeed a difference in favour of GOG.com. (I can only assume GOG.com is listing prices in $CAD for me, I know for sure Steam is.) (Also pay attention, because this is in American Dollar currency, not British P...

Re: [Wii U] Super Mario Maker

Does anyone know the ID code for Gavster's Poor l'il Mario course that was featured in the Playtonic Super Mario Maker twitch stream? I'd quite like to have a go at it. Unfortunately levels made by people who got early review copies of the game were only available to other people with review copies...

Re: Anonymous or Name Known

Like many others (no doubt) I put my forum user name in quotes between my first and last names. My online alias and my real name are already linked anyway so it wouldn't be a stretch to find me if anyone wanted to. I've got nothing to hide, I'm not entirely all that exciting, intriguing, interesting...

Re: Differences in performance and quality of the Wii U port

If the demo we've seen so far is at all close to what we might expect from the final version of the game (and it probably isn't very close), I don't think we'll have to worry about the Wii U version being sub-par when compared to the Xbox One, PS4 or PC versions. It's possible it may be limited to 7...

Re: Pledge survey

As far as I know, no tiers offered multiple digital copies. The only tiers with multiple copies were the ones that offered a physical PC copy and a digital copy of your choosing. That aside, it does seem that Playtonic goofed a little by not offering PC digital versions to some of the tiers that sho...

Re: Paypal question

I just checked my survey questions and I do have options for Steam or GOG versions in addition to the various console versions. What tier did you pledge for? If you pledged for the console digital edition, you would be limited to choosing one of the console versions, since only the Toybox tier and h...

Re: Which platform of choice would you be playing Yooka-Laylee?

It has already been discussed by the company that nintendo network services will be compatible with newer systems in the future and the eshop is part of that system. Let's just hope they continue this route and not the Xbox and PS one. I'm sure the eShop will exist in some form or other for their n...

Re: Thoughts on the £2M DLC

I keep watching this thread hoping it will come to some sort of conclusion but I'm beginning to think that won't happen. As far as I'm concerned, the DLC was (probably) going to happen whether we made it to the £2 Million mark or not, all reaching that point did was ensure that Kickstarter and PayPa...

Re: Which platform of choice would you be playing Yooka-Laylee?

If you have a WiiU please don't change your mind. Even when the WiiU successor comes out (I don't think its the NX) when that day comes you will be able to transfer Yooka-Laylee to the new console. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft know you want to keep playing the games you bought so this ability will ...

Re: POLL: Best hot sauce?

I had to vote for Frank's Red Hot, of the two I have easy access to (Frank's and Tobasco) I prefer Frank's, and it tends to be much more cost-efficient the way I use it. I've had Cholula-flavoured beef jerky and I certainly enjoyed it, I imagine I'd probably like it on other things if I could get my...

Re: Which platform of choice would you be playing Yooka-Laylee?

I'm getting a physical copy for PC and a digital copy for my system of choice (which will be for Wii U since I don't need two PC copies and I don't own either of the other two consoles). I will probably end up playing it on the PC first (unless for some odd reason my PC can't handle it at acceptable...

Re: What have YOU pledged? POLL

Forgot all about this! I chose the 64 bit edition. At 5:02pm (2 minutes after the KS started here) I saw the rewards. My plan was to spend £200, and no more. The closest was the £170 tier, but I hate playing PC. While questioning if it was worth upgrading, I saw the carts quickly go. So I went for ...

One correction you might want to make, Yavga. Grant's not actually part of the Playtonic team, he works as a freelance composer, and is lending his talent to the Playtonic team.
