Re: World Theming

Man I've gotta admit, I really hate that bathtub world idea. It's the only thought I've had every time I've seen it since April 3rd. It sounds completely out of place, right up there with the "Convenience Store Level" idea I've seen. Dream your dreams though. Im not really sure why it sou...

Re: World Theming

3. a sea-resort level: Seapunk music, dolphins, deep blue waters (and skies). Yes, yes! That sounds great! But besides all these "nice" looking worlds, I have to take up the cudgels for the gritty looking ones.As a kid, I didn't like the "dirty" worlds like Clanker's Cavern, Rus...

Re: Sub-Worlds

I would love to see another subworld set in a body of a giant monster/animal, but this time with more places to explore like head, stomach, chest etc. Ohh and I would really love to see more with trash or various objects ... like in Cloudcuckooland there was a accessible giant trashcan or a cheese w...

Re: Most favorite world from BK and Tooie, and most wanted themed world in Project Ukulele?

I always loved Jolly Rodger's Lagoon . It was a cute town near the see (well, in B-T it looked rather like a deep lake, ) that seemed like a real place. I loved strolling around and just enjoying the atmosphere in this one. But after a short time, I've seen enough and had to dive down in the ...

Re: World Theming

Well I think zombies could really fit in to an area of my suggested b-movie theater world . But here is another world suggestion: How about an victorian london themed world with some steampunk elements. This could be the perfect setting for a spooky world. Off course the world should be at night and...

Re: Playable characters

I think the ability to control different characters or to transform in some situations is an important gameplay mechanic in the Banjo-Kazooie series and also in the Donkey Kong series, so in my opinion its a must to have this feature in Project Ukulele.

Re: What is Rare doing?

I think Rare is working on a new Battletoads game because its a very potencial series similar to turtles in time, and this series should not be forgotten ... quite a long time ago since there was a new battletoads game. And the microsoft devs allways teasing battletoads things on their twitter page ...

Re: Formal Bosses in Project Ukulele

Banjo-Tooie did it well with the bosses (each world has one boss) and they are all tied to the story of the world.

Re: Mumbo's Mountain Inspiration

Mayahem Temple was the obvious one. 'Maya' is in the name. :P Rare really liked putting ancient civilisations in their games. DK64 has Angry Aztec too, off the top of my head. They also put a lot of real-world objects/buildings within their games, like the Zulu shields behind Mumbo and all the Maya...

Re: Mumbo's Mountain Inspiration

Well I actually asked a similar question to the creator of Mumbo Jumbo and the Jinjos a month ago. I guess we can ask again but this time for the "inspiration culture" instead of the nationality but hey here is the answer: http://i62.tinypic.com/15p66bn.png source: https://twitter.com/min...

Re: Mumbo's Mountain Inspiration

Generic* Voodoo tribe, I believe. Shrunken heads and all that business. *I say generic because I have no idea where these tribes originate, but as the World of Warcraft trolls have Jamaican accents, I'll take a guess at Jamaica. Edit: Although it's worth mentioning there's a totem pole in the villa...

Mumbo's Mountain Inspiration

If we look at some worlds from Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie then we can clearly see that some worlds have inspiration from ancient culture. For example: Gobi's Valley - Ancient Egypt Mayahem Temple - Aztec/Maya/Inca Jolly Roger's Lagoon (ocean floor) - Atlantis but I allways wondered from which culture t...

Re: Question regarding World Size and connection between them.

I think Tooie did a good job with the backtracking tasks, the only thing which bothered me was that it took so long because of the cutscenes. If they would be skippable the completion of the tasks would be much faster. i mean when you play the game for the first time its okay but after that you allr...

Re: Most favorite world from BK and Tooie, and most wanted themed world in Project Ukulele?

I think it would give the player another feel and perspective if it would be a supermarket/mall in a video game stuffed full of wacky anthropomorphic characters than in real life. It is the same thing if you watch a cartoon like Rockos modern life, there is a whole town including a supermarket, fill...

Re: World Theming

I was thinking about the world themes again, and also how Project Ukulele will have expansive worlds and it got me thinking about another great 3D Platformer (actually not made by Rare surprisingly) Glover! If you have never played Glover it has realms with multiple levels within them. Each realm h...

Re: Most favorite world from BK and Tooie, and most wanted themed world in Project Ukulele?

Who wants to read a story about going to Target though? I do that twice a week. Stories should be fanciful. Rusty Bucket Bay isn't like Target just because it had industrial overtones. Agreed. I really hope Playtonic doesn't take that idea to heart. Not all ideas are winners. Well not as a whole wo...

Re: Most favorite world from BK and Tooie, and most wanted themed world in Project Ukulele?

Another most wanted world theme for me: - A LOW BUDGET B-MOVIE/TRASH CINEMA WORLD : Could you imagine a world set in a cinema designed with popcorn/moviereels and all that stuff and with three cinema halls and each hall has got his own theme but all are kinda like low budget b-movie horror films. Th...

Re: Most favorite world from BK and Tooie, and most wanted themed world in Project Ukulele?

I really love the supermarket idea. A random fastfood restaurant would be also really cool, I loved the Duke Burger levels in Duke Nukem and another cool idea would be a hotel with 5 floors set on a polluted beach. Some tropical areas outside and much to explore inside the hotel building. Outside in ...
