Re: Nintendo should REALLY think about locking this project up!

That's a good point. A lot of people are grumpy with Microsoft for presumably "ruining" Rare, but it was NINTENDO who SOLD them in the first place! How come nobody is grumpy at Nintendo for that crap? I've never thought of that myself until now. Hadn't Rare sold half of itself to Microsof...

I like the new instruments, but I think some bits could do without the added flute :P

Re: Languages

Oh, you study Japanese at college? That's pretty awesome :D I study it too, although it's in a separate course. And yeah, I'd love a Japanese translation for this game for the same reason! It'd be a nice way to practice the language. I've actually played a little bit of the Japanese version of Banj...

Re: Languages

Also, I'm surprised at the amount of people who know Japanese here! This is pretty cool xD Heh, I was thinking that too. I want a Japanese translation just to help me practice the language -- I study Japanese at university. I also think it'd be cool in a nostalgic sense because of Nintendo's origin...

Re: Languages

ユーカのレイリー (Yu-ka no Reiri-) is what I'd go for. レーリー (Re-ri-) is fine too, but I used to spell my name テーラー (Te-ra-) until I found out テイラー (Teira-) is more common. Taylor and Laylee have the same pronunciation (Tay, Lay), so that's my reasoning. Edit: ユーカ と レイリー, sorry. Using an イ instead of a ー fo...

Re: Languages

I totally understand! It makes total sense! :) I prefer your way now anyway, after thinking about it. It's their name and you shouldn't change the names of characters. We have this too much in French and it's seriously annoying... (The worst is probably The Lord of the Rings... 1 example of many : ...

Re: Fan Art!

Found another piece on Reddit, don't think it's been posted yet. http://orig12.deviantart.net/22d2/f/2015/127/1/4/yooka_laylee_by_matsuyama_takeshi-d8sixhs.png I'm out of words! The level of detail in there is amazing! :O I can't even imagine how long it must've taken to draw that...

Re: Languages

My knowledge of Japanese is pretty limited, but would they understand that ユーカ and レーリー is a pun on ウクレレ? Or maybe it's not important that they understand the pun anyway. I think the problem with naming them ウク and レレ in Japanese is that the English names are derivations of "ukulele", not...

Re: Languages

I would love to see a Japanese localization. I'm wondering how they would localize the names Yooka and Laylee in Japanese though... If they want Japanese people to get the pun, they would have to go with "ウク" uku and "レレ" rere I suppose. If there was a Japanese localization, the...

Re: Languages

But of course. I didn't mention it because I thought it was obvious, since every single game with multiple languages nowadays (including the mentioned The Last of Us and GTA5) has this option feature. =P I mentioned it because I've played games that changed their language based on system settings i...

Re: Languages

A Portuguese translation would be pretty cool! I'm Brazilian too, and it's always awesome to see games in Portuguese, since it's so rare to actually see games translated to Portuguese (and well translated, at that!) But I think it'd be important to give players the option to play in the language the...

Re: Swimming and True Flight?

Flying in Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie was really fun! :D It was awesome to see the levels from so high, having a whole new perspective. And it never felt "broken" to me, since you had to use specific pads on the ground to activate it. I really hope we can fly around the levels in Yooka Laylee ...

Re: Proper voices as a stretch goal

Concern #1 is that the game is officially being localized in 5 different languages, each would require its own spoken dialog recorded for the game. Of course, this could be addressed by setting the stretch goal amount high enough to cover the costs of hiring voice talent and renting a recording stu...

Re: Proper voices as a stretch goal

I think having actual voices would detract from the aspect that this is supposed to be a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. I wouldn't mind if we were allowed to toggle between mumbles and actual dialogue, but I don't think it's necessary to have actual voices in the first place. Playtonic should...
