Re: Team17 Partnership

I hope Team 17 will ensure a retail release. Basically this is all I'm worried about wrt this game.

Re: How much does the $3M funding impact the game?

3 Mio gives them enough of a budget to pay a staff of ~20 people for 18 months and have some safety net in case development takes longer (assuming ~40% of the money will be used for various expenses like paying Kickstarter its share of the money and producing / sending the Kickstarter rewards, yield...

Re: Which platform of choice would you be playing Yooka-Laylee?

For me it's Wii U. I like playing Off-TV and a platformer like this feels right at home on a Nintendo system. I couldn't care less if a successor console is coming, I won't give my Wii U away and can always play Wii U games on my existing Wii U. Why would it be important if a successor is coming sho...

Re: No Banjo Kazooie 3. Rare is officially dead.

Rare chose to do an online-only version of Assassin's Creed 3 / 4 / Rogue's ship battles. Source? Or are you pulling this out of nowhere after watching a mock-up gameplay trailer that had LAND and sea segments? What they have shown was AC3/4/R pirate gameplay and walking around (no potential challe...

Re: No Banjo Kazooie 3. Rare is officially dead.

Being about pirates says next to nothing about the game, you could have all kinds of gameplay with that. Rare chose to do an online-only version of Assassin's Creed 3 / 4 / Rogue's ship battles. Which were nice, but after playing this for three consecutive years, it certainly does not get me excited...

Re: Thoughts on the £2M DLC

Not to mention that 70 thousand backers, Playtonic's biggest fans, would have reason to call them out on the Kickstarter stretch goal lying to them. It says nothing about the content being free or paid for others, it only says that it's free for backers. So there'd be no lying involved if they made...

Re: No Banjo Kazooie 3. Rare is officially dead.

Also, keep in mind, they confirmed a new Banjo in the near future. I'm guessing 2016-17. They also said a new Perfect Dark would come within the next 5 years. So get over yourselves. Where did they say anything about that? Lemme ask you a question, and I want an honest answer. If Rare made an hones...

Re: No Banjo Kazooie 3. Rare is officially dead.

You need to chill out. I didn't expect a Banjo game and I can't believe so many of you DID. It was obviously going to be a new IP. Rare isn't dead and this CERTAINLY is a step in the right direction. If their new game is an online-mp only thing then I obviously won't play it but what comes next cou...

Re: No Banjo Kazooie 3. Rare is officially dead.

I still think BK3 is coming. I'm not sure when, but it'll be soon. There's so much buzz around 3D platformers; Rare would literally be stupid not to bring back Banjo. Rare / MS have been stupid for more than 10 years, leaving their strongest property to rot. The second game probably really is Battl...

Re: A Gameplay Concern

You could have a 'blob shadow' function but not an actual shadow. Something like when Yooka jumps, Laylee fires a beam of light to the floor to determine the landing point for the gamer. It's a different approach to solve an old issue, but there will be criticism of whatever is implemented here. Li...

Re: A Gameplay Concern

Even Banjo-Kazooie would be hard as hell without blob shadows and not in a good way. Yeah, the less platforming is important in the game, the more blob shadows are optional, but I want a platformer, not a walking simulator, so if Yooka-Laylee ends up being a good Collectathon, it needs blob shadows....

Re: A Gameplay Concern

search 'blob shadow' on Google and you'll find this page comes back as 18th result. Anyway... We should try some game out without blob shadows and then another game with the blob shadows and then look at the differences. So we can actually back up our findings! Just take Jak & Daxter: Precurser...

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.5Million Stretch Goal funded!

And false again buddy. "Keep what we have" does NOT mean "exclude something new". This is a modernization of Banjo Kazooie's play style. It is not a copy job. The burger and fries metaphor fits again. We had a burger, we still have a burger because we kept what we have , and now...

Re: DLC discussion

The game is on Steam so that point is moot. It's either all available, or all gone. Except, the point isn't moot, because you need to buy me a gaming PC then. Will you? No, I didn't think so. The game is on whatever digital distribution shop you choose. Same story across the board. If NINTENDO clos...

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.5Million Stretch Goal funded!

Keep what people already love includes "fully self-contained games that do not get DLC but successors instead". On top of what GreyMagic said, it actually doesn't. Keeping what you love means keeping what you love. It DOESN'T mean refraining from adding something a certain demographic may...

Re: DLC discussion

Naturally, as someone very concerned about preservation of games I like, I'm quite mad at the prospect of DLC, free for backers or not. Even if the game was still to get a retail release - which seems unlikely considering the enormously high stretch goal condition for some DLC - we could never ensur...

Their next goal should be a retail release on at least one console.
