Re: Possible Publishers for Physical Version

vastly increases Citation needed. You've heard of Minecraft right? I have and if you take a look at how well Minecraft did at retail, long after the game was released as a download and at a higher price, you should be able to see that the citation you ask for can be found in your very posting. More...

Re: Possible Publishers for Physical Version

And something else I realized after posting that is, lots and lots of people are just going to get the digital version once the game is fully released anyway because it's easier to do. I know they mentioned it as a dream in passing but I would not get my hopes up. It's not really about "can&qu...

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

Nowadays I mostly hear kids talk about Minecraft, FNAF, and mobile games. All three are primarily downloadable, and Minecraft is the only one with a stripped down, physical console release. Storing a gift on a rot susceptible disc doesn't make it any more "proper". Mobile games yes, becau...

Re: Proper voices as a stretch goal

Put me also in the firmly against spoken dialog camp. It's not making the game any better, it's expensive, difficult to do with random people giving voices to characters and from my experience is never as good as mumbling is.

Re: Possible Publishers for Physical Version

Considering Sega is trying to get mostly out of retail publishing disregarding some PC games and Sonic, I seriously doubt they are a good candidate. Deep Silver is a great one though.

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

Edit: after some googling around, articles I've found are showing anywhere from $3M to $10M to publish an average current-gen game. Even with profit splitting to lower the production costs I don't see Playtonic EVER coming out ahead money-wise with a physical release. A small-scale retail release w...

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

Yeah I know they want to do that in an ideal universe , I read every little bit of Playtonic news too; nothing is sneaking by me. There's a difference between wanting to do something and actually doing something though. And a physical release would basically guarantee a release date delay (which, g...

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

Thank you, I meant video game :). 4.1 million would be roughly double the current amount, right? I have hopes that will be reached (ironic since I'm not a backer yet due to missing retail release).

Banjo-Kazooie size. Big enough to have secrets, small enough to be densely packed with content.

Re: [Stretch Goals] Update: 1.2Million Stretch Goal funded!

Then, after a retail release, they can put some things in there they plan on doing anyway, for instance "6 worlds guaranteed".

Re: Why no boxed edition for console?

It's possible the game may get a physical release some day, as it has happened with other digital-only games that got really successful (Like Journey on PS3). However, TC, you really should consider getting over your aversion toward digital-only titles, not just for this game but for gaming in gene...

Re: Why no boxed edition for console?

I pledged for a physical copy anyway assuming that they'll get support for console physical copies and that you'll be able to choose then. If not, well, I'll have a pc copy, though I doubt that with all the support they're getting, they couldn't make it happen. If Playtonic confirmed that you could...

Re: Why no boxed edition for console?

Because this is an indie game. They don't have a publisher taking a huge cut of the profits. Yep. Publishers put things in boxes. These billion dollar monoliths take the cost of production and then suck up all the profits. You don't want a boxed version. It'd hurt Playtonic. I do want one. There ar...

Re: Why no boxed edition for console?

To me the game is worth a lot. But I need it as a physical game on console. Otherwise it's almost bad it even exists because I just cannot support digital only and will be incredibly jealous of people who don't have such deep problems with digital (or can enjoy games on PC).
