Re: Reviews: expectations and what attention will you pay them

One interesting reaction I had when reading the really, really harsh review of this Jimquisition guy: Annoying sounds ? Yesss, they'll better be! Laylee's insulting everyone ? Hell yeah, I loved that! Silly dialogue ? Well.. that is exactly what I want to see in this game! Many reviewers that have ...

Re: The fate of crocodile isle...

I reckon they somehow raised the island. Because if they had rebuilt it, they would've made it even bigger and MORE baddass. (like with the second Death Star in Star Wars). ;) That's what I'm thinking too. If you try looking up crocodile isle there is conflicting opinions on whether or not that is ...

The fate of crocodile isle...

So here is a question with spoilers from a 22 year old game. Did K.rool and the Kremlings ever raise crocodile isle from the depths of the ocean? Diddy and Dixie sank it at the true ending of DKC2, but there is some contention of the continuity of DKL2, some say that it is a sequel to DKC2, some say...

Re: What custom theme can you come up with?

You know, we never got a space themed world in the old B-K games. I mean we had witchyworld which had a SECTION. Imagine haVing a world in a giant space ship and you need a transformation to go outside in space? After Terrarium of Terror I never want to see a space world again. Lol XD I hate that w...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

An interesting observation! -It kind of comes back to the whole "freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences" arguement. They weren't silencing his views but rather acting accordingly to the things he said. Unfortunately that's also a sword that cuts both ways, nobody here is ...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

Not everyone feels this way mind you, but most of the comments criticizing playtonic share this sentiment. Thoughts? I think it's funny that everybody assumes they MUST but caving to outside pressure (which is always wrong??) and so they want to say things "right" by pressuring them?? If ...

Re: What might happen to Playtonic if Yooka-Laylee flops...

This controversy is going to hit Playtonic hard, but I doubt it will make their game flop. If they are more careful in the future, avoid politics of any kind, and avoid being pressured into altering their vision. They and their other titles should be fine.

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

So I started browsing the kickstarter comment section and I found this post that seems to encapsulate a lot (not every) backers beef with the decision: "Howdy all, I just wanted to voice my disappointment in the way that you've handled the Jontron situation. I had backed this before I was ever ...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

Was this guy getting paid to provide his "voice" in the game? Because last I knew, he was not an employee of Playtonic Games; therefore, it cannot be considered that he was "fired." I don't think he was paid, no. I believed they offered the role to him. He was not and is not und...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

He isn't being fired for a differing opinion, he's being fired for stirring up controversy. There's a thing called guilt by association, which they're trying to avoid. He has a target on his back, and they don't want to get hit in the cross-fire. The problem is even if they did wait to actually ge...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

Real quick, the couple of people kicking up a tantrum still, you were probably just as outraged when Nintendo fired Alison Rapp, right? You know, since it is just the principal of thing, it would be hypocritical of you to not be just as upset when somebody you don't agree with gets let go under ver...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

-I would also add people who are tired of politics in general too. After all they could have disavowed Jontron without removing him or being quiet about the removal. The gesture is (metaphorically) loud and political. -Gamers see companies cave to political pressure and make statements more and mor...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

There's probably different groups of people: - The ones that absolutely share the views in the way he expressed them (but probably didn't mean himself? I'm still confused because I thought he's a great guy), but spoken words are spoken - The conservative (but not racist people) that misinterpreted ...

Re: Jon Jafari (JonTron) and his role in Yooka-Laylee

Thank you, Alph. Unless someone's all for white (or whatever color) supremacy, I can not see how that outrage towards Playtonic is justified (and Playtonic's actions unjustified). Is it really that hard to imagine that someone stands for a minimum of ethical values without being anti-conservative a...
