Re: Speedrunning in Yooka-Laylee

I actually kinda didn't like having a surplus of Mumbo tokens at the end of the game. This would keep things neater. But on the other hand, Mumbo tokens were a nice middle-ground collectible. Like, more important than eggs and feathers but less important than a Jiggy, something you could use to ince...

Re: Griff The Winged Lion "Kickstarter 3D Platformer"

I feel like I can't be the only one. It's a nostalgic graphical style for a lot of people I'm sure.

Re: Griff The Winged Lion "Kickstarter 3D Platformer"

I mean, I like the concept, and the character designs are pretty cool overall... But the graphics? Eh, look, pixelated sprites CAN look cool, regardless of how blocky they seem, but I don't recall anyone clamoring for a return of the bulbous, jagged shapes of early N64/PS1 3D games... ...I actually...

Re: Shovel Knight in Yooka-Laylee

The cameos I'd be OK with would be like Banjo Kazooie or Conker or such Rare characters, even Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong would fit in there given their shared universe with BK. See when you put it like this, it makes me realize how much Shovel Knight actually works: Rare games crossed over with eac...

Re: Some new info on Shovel knight

They neglect to mention how much they paid Playtonic or Team 17, or how it exactly was that Shovel Knight was shoehorned into yet another game. I was thinking Playtonic got enough kickstarter funding, so I assume Yacht Games attacked through Team 17, as Playtonic wouldn't want to have to find a new...

Re: Things that you DO NOT want in this game.

I don't want the game to be constantly referencing Banjo-Kazooie. I know it's a spiritual successor and just by the nature of the game there's bound to be a few jokes about it here and there, and I'm fine with that. But I think if the whole game frequently alludes to BK and too much of the game desi...

Anyone else like extreme sports games (THPS, etc.)?

I feel like the genre (specifically Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and games with similar formulas) shares some similarities with the 3D platformer: ⋅ Large 3D areas with lots to explore ⋅ Fun to just move around ⋅ Usually offers a checklist of missions and objectives to comple...

I think another cool idea is if you could skip across the water Kiddy Kong style.

Re: Less Hope For Yooka Laylee?

That makes sense because it's only measuring the success of the actual Kickstarter campaign. Once that rocket's off the ground, Kickstarter has nothing to do with it.

For all we know, the NX could just be a pitching machine with a gun on it to skeet-shoot any game you're dumb enough to put in there

I just hope Wise isn't limited to just upbeat challenge themes

Some of my favorite David Wise songs are his slower, more atmospheric tunes

It'll be good either way though

Re: E3 trailer by Playtonic

Maybe they can do something like "phantom Quills". Say you collect 60 quills then you die, your Quill record for that level will be 60, and the Quills you collected will reappear, but they'll be transparent and won't increase your Quill counter when collected. Any Quills you didn't collect...
