I don't want the change though. Blob shadows are good. Dynamic blob shadows are better. Removing them would not only be extra effort for yet another feature less than 10% of players will use, but it would be outright foolish.

As for the 'majority' who voted against blob shadows (what, 20 to 18 on a single forum? On a game with over 50,0000 backers ) - most of them literally did not know what a blob shadow even IS. The word 'blob' made them have a knee jerk reaction. Not unlike the word 'orchestral'.

Go read the comments in that poll. Half the people don't even know what a blob shadow is defined as. It's as accurate as voting in the USA.

There will be a blob shadow and a dynamic shadow so that's that.

Now a new minority rises with the question wherether we will be able to disable the 'blob shadow' but why exactly? Because it's not realistic? not challenging? Who says the blob shadow will be under your character at all times?

They could very well let the blob shadow fade when you reach certain heights. Quite a few games do this.
It is possible they will do this in Yooka Laylee.

Why exactly do people hate the blob shadow so much? I fail to understand. It's like, just don't look at it if you don't like it. It never hindered me so why should it hinder you?

That's a question: Aside from not being realistic why the hate?

Maybe because it doesn't look realistic and weird in combination with dynamic shadows... but as you said, they probably hide it & fade it in when it's needed, or something like that. I think a challenge shouldn't consist of a lack in character control. I mean... is it really a good challenge we had with Donkey Kong 64's clunky control? I'd bet it wasn't, it was just frustrating!

I agree in that case.

Also, yes. Sine Curve is the english term... Sinus Kurfe is the german term... I got them mixed up... I tend to do that with words that are similar in both languages.

Just dropping in to point out the shadows in the . There seems to be a small round shadow directly below the characters, but only during platforming sections. If that's intended and I'm not just seeing things, then I think that's a great solution.

Not to sound like a mindless supporter, but it's really expected that this team would at least get the basic platforming elements right; Sutherland alone guarantees that.
When this team branches out to different genres, skepticism could be more warranted. Again -- lots of DKC, BK, industry-in-general vets here...
