Why no boxed edition for console?

Postby Yoshi » Fri May 01, 2015 4:06 pm

As a console-only, retail-only player I'm really disappointed that there is no option for a physical edition of the gameon a console on Kickstarter. Are there any chances you will add this as a tier, because otherwise the Kickstarter is quite worthless to me, because there is no way I can get the game in a way I'd be happy with :(. Of course I'd be fine with paying more for that than the asking price for the boxed PC version.

Because it costs much more to make. Probably so much that every boxed console edition would be sold at a loss, the cost of production overwhelming the cost of the game itself.

A 30€ limited-run boxed release with a reward tier of say 120€ (for just one console, I would buy a PS4 if needed, all others I have here anyway) I can't imagine to be impossible at a profit.

I thought i couldn't see it when looking through the rewards. What on earth? Why is the game only going to be worth 15? I thought it was going to be a big proper game...

Because this is an indie game. They don't have a publisher taking a huge cut of the profits.

To me the game is worth a lot. But I need it as a physical game on console. Otherwise it's almost bad it even exists because I just cannot support digital only and will be incredibly jealous of people who don't have such deep problems with digital (or can enjoy games on PC).

I really only want a Wii U version.

That said, if money works out next week, I intend to pledge the 70£ reward regardless, for support. The manual and artbook alone are probably worth the price and I have bought games multiple times before... especially if the Wii U version is only around 20.-SFr.

I agree that it would be cool, but the costs are a bit more prohibitive.

There may be a physical release on consoles after all, check the Kickstarter update. I posted about it here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1079

I pledged for a physical copy anyway assuming that they'll get support for console physical copies and that you'll be able to choose then. If not, well, I'll have a pc copy, though I doubt that with all the support they're getting, they couldn't make it happen.

I jumped on the physical box release for PC (even though I'd prefer it on console) and I've been wondering if it's a universal PC/Mac disk or just PC because I only have a Mac.
