I highly agree with the concerns expressed in the original post. To me, nine levels is standard for a Banjo-Kazooie game, and the spiritual successor shouldn't have any lower standards. I get that these levels expand, but it's the major thematic differences between the worlds that makes them so much fun, and I can't help but feel like we'd be missing out on that with fewer worlds, regardless of how expansive they are. I really hope that "five or more," means that there's still a possibility of having the nine-world standard set by the previous games.

This was a concern of mine as well. I really hope the game will have more than five distinct worlds, nine or ten would be ideal (stretch goal?). The thematic differences between each world was one of the best parts of Banjo Kazooie, and I'd love to see Playtonic play with a vast range of themes and settings again. If Playtonic do decide to stick with fewer worlds, perhaps they plan to take inspiration from Banjo Kazooie's Click Clock Wood or Banjo Tooie's Witchyworld and have an overarching theme throughout the world to give it continuity while giving each section of the world its own identity and a more narrow theme. For example, one world could have an overarching theme of movie tropes and genres, and each section of the world entails a particular genre such as horror, romantic comedy, action, western, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.

I was concerned too, but Playtonic did say Yooka Laylee would offer more than Banjo Kazooie/Tooie.

Also, couldn't they make a stretch goal for more worlds? :D
Hey there fellow reader! I suppose I gained your interest somehow? It's nice having someone reading me. It feels so.. ticklish I should say. Thanks for that!

I think the important thing for all of us to remember is that *They're only three months in*. Once they've fleshed things out more, new ideas will spring up. Five seems too little but it's all about what is IN them - there may be 20 Pagies per level, for example. Fewer worlds doesn't mean a shorter game OR less variation, it all depends on how much they chuck in, and they're determined not to waste any space. It may well be 'only' five worlds, but if each world takes several hours to finish, then it's not a problem.

These are not going to be 5 Banjo-Kazooie sized worlds.

Banjo-kazooie games had more. usually, i like even amount of worlds. for instance more and even would be 8 worlds(including the hub world).

The game will have AT LEAST SIX, and will be greatly expandable to allow for different themes. We're likely going to see closer to ten depending on how many Playtonic feel works best. They're not going to give us a five-hour experience. There will be AT LEAST SIX worlds.

Seven would be a sweet spot for me, if they're larger worlds. Just because one of my favourite parts of BK and BT was wandering around the hub world and trying to imagine what kind of level it'd be before it opened. More levels means more progression in the hub world too.

[quote=""] more than 5/quote]

so 6+. at least 6. DK64 had ~8 worlds (depending if you counted hub world, ect), and that game takes ~100+ hours on the first go, normally more.

Perhaps more worlds could be another stretch goal? :P

DK64 takes so long because of how many collectibles it has and the switch-characters-dozens-of-times nature in which you pick those up, not because it has 8+ worlds.

I read the Kickstarter, and the distinctly say "More then 5 worlds"... I'm taking that there's possibly going to be more then that, but there will at least be 5 main worlds...

I feel like that's not that much, even if they expand when Pagies are collected... I'd like to see some variety with this game, not just 5 big worlds that get bigger as time goes on... Though who knows, maybe the worlds themselves will have more variety as they expand.

All in all, it's hard to say what I think of this until I see the game in action.
