Only 5 Worlds in the game?

I have just a bit of a concern regarding the game. According to the official Kickstarter page, it states there will be more than five distinct worlds in the game. 5 worlds seems a bit tiny ecspacially compared to
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie both having 9 worlds.

Now yes, I am aware that obviously the worlds will be bigger than the ones in BK and I do know the worlds will not stay the same size and will expand by giving Pagies to a certain character(s) however even so I still believe that 5 worlds just seems a little small. Now I'm not necessarily saying that the game itself will be small but I want LOTS of worlds to explore each obviously containing a unique theme and stuff.

Now yes, again, I am also aware that they said the game will have "more than just five distinct worlds in the game" and I truly hope thats the case.

Now I'm not bashing on the game because it may only have 5 worlds. I'm still super mega hyped for it and nothing will stop my hype however I just cant help but wonder why only 5 worlds? I understand crafting these worlds may be tough but with all the Kickstarter money they have and (most likely) time to invest, I truly hope they'll at least consider adding more, if not already.

I have this concern as well. TECHNICALLY the Kickstarter says "5 or more worlds", so we could get more. And also with the worlds expanding we really have no idea just how massive they get to be. Five MAY be plenty. But personally, I'd like six to eight so we get more thematic world variations.

Maybe with all the extra Kickstarter cash they can guarantee 6+ worlds? We'll see. They DID just have to add bosses and new boss music to every level, plus transformations, plus some minecart sections.

Since it says "more than 5," wouldn't that be at least six? From the wording, the final number of worlds may not be concrete yet.

Ehhhhh, he's going forth but twosips is baselessly speculating.

I wouldn't be surprised if they said "five plus" because they only have 5 ideas they like at the moment though.

Ah what? I want the game to have a ratio between eight to 10 worlds.

Yeah, I would prefer more different themes worlds over less worlds with expansions. But I'd take more worlds (like around 9 worlds) with their expansions of course, if they run out of stretch goals ;)

Five Worlds may be plenty. It sounds like the worlds aren't only going to be bigger, they are going to be huge with a crapload of secrets. A casual playthroughs of the game would be fairly quick, as it sounds like you don't even have to expand any of the worlds to get to the final boss, but 100% Playthroughs could end up getting very complex and lengthy.

The cost of the game going by the kickstarter will be around 15 bucks, going by that I don't think it's wise to expect the same amount content you got in Banjo-Kazooie to be in this game. Going by Broken Age, which was going to be a 15 dollar game and had 3.3mil+x amount of funding ended up being a 30 dollar game and felt a little under the length of of Grim Fandango. The cost to develop Grim Fandango(original) was counting for inflation 4.5mil. Not to suggest that the game can't be amazing at 15 dollars, but I don't expect nor do I think you should expect the same amount of content you got in Banjo-Kazooie.

To me "more than 5 distinct worlds " could be the same as "we have at least 5 distinct worlds" It seems like its more of a placeholder. Like "based on the funding we may add more but for now we have ideas for 5"

I want a candy land world. The boss can be king Diabetes.

I'm sure Playtonic will double the amount to 10 worlds, or maybe even 12 worlds in total for Yooka-Laylee. Because the Kickstarter far exceeded the scope than that they initially planned, given it was only a £175,000 budget that withhold them to add a quiz show in the game, bosses in each level, transformations, etc.

It seems the main concern when it comes to the number 5 is the lack of thematic variation. A simple way to fix this without having to design enormous expanding worlds for each unique theme is to have each world represent some sort of overarching theme, with many variations within the worlds as you expand.

Something like Click Clock Wood. What if there was a world with the theme of holidays? You could begin in Christmas, and work your way down into Halloween and more as you toss in pagies, which gives you further incentive to expand worlds rather than just breezing past them.

I really wouldn't know how this would apply to the first world though. Maybe you can explain the floating islands can be explained behind some sort of sky concept, where you keep climbing and find yourself in a cloud cuckooland-like area, and then proceed to ...space? Or something? I don't know, but I definitely agree that 5 themes alone sounds a bit underwhelming.
