Arcade Machine games: what do YOU want to see?

So each world is going to have it's own arcade machine, containing some "old-school gaming goodness"... What kind of games would you like to see? Would you like to see something along the lines of "Klungo sssavesss teh world"? Or would you rather see a more genuine type of arcade game?

Personally, I hope they take both options, and really the fact that they're even including that is really fun! Really look forward to what they do with that!

I 100% want cheesy 8 bit games just like the Klungo game in Nuts and Bolts. That game was so iconic and so funny! It was so funny how the game would purposely crash and how pathetic the final boss was. It was so charming yet so dumb and I WANNA SEE IT AGAIN!

Edit: Ah yes however I do not want EVERY arcade game in the various worlds to all be cheesy. Maybe a dumb character made this one dumb game while another made this surprisingly engaging one.

I preferred Klungo's arcade game to the main game -- I'm not kidding.

My first thought on the arcade machines were that it'd be, for example, a side-scrolling Donkey Kong Country-styled game with Yooka & Laylee. Whoever you play as, I reckon it will mostly be "spiritual successors" to popular 2D games. Basically the same as the arcade machine in DK64, but without including copyrighted material.

If it's not in the game already, there should be a couple of games where one character is kidnapped and the other has to rescue. You either play as Yooka doing a parody of the original Metal Gear or Laylee doing a parody of StarFox. It was cool when both Metal gear solid 3 and Ape Escape done that to each other so this is what I would be excited for.

Parodies of things like Pacman, Burgertime, or even Sabreman would be funny.

I'm hoping for some to be similar to Klungo's Arcade in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. That was very well put together and extremely fun!

First, I read the rules and it doesn't say the forum's stance on posting in old forgoten threads vs. making new threads. But I thought it would be nice for people to read the opinions already posted regarding this subject.


I love when games have retro mini-games inside them. I wonder if the games will be strictly arcade or console old-school too.

Right now all I can think of is that I would love a 2D plataformer in the style of Donkey Kong Country. Playing with two characters and collecting items for extra lives while stomping on enemies. Something simple and intuitive like those games.
Not that I would mind something new and not stricly referential either.

I wonder if one will have to use those coins with purple triangles as tokens to play the games.

I'm actually not super excited about these. I feel like they're gonna be that thing I dread having to contend with in every level to get the last pagie, because they'll take me out of glorious 3D-platforming-plus-cool-moves land and put me into arcade-game-I-completely-suck-at land.
Maybe I'd be more excited if I didn't suck at arcade games.

I really, really DON'T want to see ANY arcade games within Yooka-Yalee. I can only see it being a distraction for the development team to assemble comperably mediocre sideshows within the game. I really can't think of a single arcade game I wanted to dump my time into between Banjo-Tooie, DK64, Jet Force Gemini*, or Nuts & Bolts.

*except Floyd's missions, but those were rage-induced sessions--a matter of principle. Catchy music didn't hurt, either. I really would rather have been unlocking more secret areas in my search for spaceship parts, though.

I think games making fun of Donkey Kong, Battletoads, or Sonic and the like could be fun.
Sort of like how Kluno Ssssssaves teh world was.
