Passing the Baton

The time has come for true 3D platforming to reign powerful once again!

And I'm sure in the hands of Playtonic, this is practically a guarantee, especially seeing how good the backing of Yooka-Laylee is doing.

We can clearly see that this game is also a revitalization of Banjo-Kazooie (with a little DK and freshly brewed tea mix-in ;) ). So what are you guys hoping to see out of it? Any returning features? Any new gameplay adding on to the golden B&K games?

I personally hope that there will be some sort of transformation like the classics (and it seems so with the color-changing!) that opens up opportunities for exploration even further! I want this game to feel like a fresh, B&K breath of air, and so far it doesn't disappoint!

I'm surprised I'm the only one who picked level design; I could go on for hours breaking down BK's level design and pointing out how many good decisions were made, especially outside of CCW and BGS. I could do the same for any non-Rare 3D platformer made before Super Mario Galaxy and make you wonder if I find them any more enjoyable than Sonic 06; to me the 3D platformer genre is fun on its own merits, but for a long time Rare's level designers were the only ones that put enough thought into how to structure their games besides "how many ways can we re-use Bob-Omb Battlefield textures" and "if we hide a bottomless pit behind some useless crates, do you think we can stretch out this cash cow?".

Yes, no one has done it quite like the ex-Rare Playtonics... I look forward to Level Design as well as Characters. I can't wait to see those 'wisecracks' that Laylee will pull off, maybe even sassier than Kazooie!
