Minecraft doesn't have any dialog.
I don't care if a game has no dialog in it. I'm not saying people have to talk for the game to be good. I'm saying that when people talk you should be able to hear them. I hate is when you have to read through lines of text the game pressing A every few seconds. That is just lazy of the game devs. These days it is easy to record dialog for games. There are no space limitations.
Nintendo is probably the only AAA developer that makes games without voice acting. They get away with it because they have a loyal fanbase and they make good games. But even Nintendo are including more and more voice acting. If Ubisoft, EA or Valve made games with subtitles only they would be heavily criticized for laziness. And rightly so.

Also even Diddy Kong Racing had voice acting. The bosses would talk to you when you got up to them. Did that make the game worse? It was even Banjo's first game.

If you'd played a game with voice acting like Mass Effect you'd know that the choices you have to respond are text until you select one, then they are spoken.

I was only expecting English voices. Subtitles would be in all languages of course.
Also to the people mentioning production time. Setting up two audio files to play according to the options menu would be extremely easy. Yes, gathering and recording all the voices would be a big undertaking but even in saying that, I don't expect this game to have mountains of dialogue. And the main team wouldn't be working on this task, supervising it sure, but I'm sure it would be outsourced to someone else who they will pay with additional stretch goal funds.

Banjo Kazooie is not even mumbling. It's a set of random vocal noises. There's no attempt at sounding out the words.
