Swimming and True Flight?

Postby Kinoyo » Wed May 06, 2015 5:01 am

Do you guys think that swimming and true flight (Kazooie's flight pads) need to happen again? I wonder what the animations for those would look like...

Kinoyo...

Anyway the Flight session and swimming isn't hard. Hold R while flying and swimming and it is way easier! The Beak Bomb always goes towards the middle of the screen!

But yeah I'm interested in all moves actually!

Swimming was totally fine, you just have to get used to the controls & physics underwater. I also hope that they put both mechanics in the game!

Never had an issue with swimming.

Flying felt a bit awkward in Banjo-Kazooie, but that's mostly, because it handled like actual flying.
You can't hover in the air if you are using wing flight, unless you can turn your wings upside-down with no repercussion and do so very quickly, like a hummingbird or have multiple sets of wings, like Dragonflies.

I had no issues with flying and swimming in the Banjo games.

I'm wondering if we should have Laylee-driven flight in Yooka-Laylee though. Flight is a bit of a level breaking ability; they solved this in Banjo by using flight pads, but I always wondered why Kazooie couldn't just fly whenever she wanted to. On top of this, Laylee looks too small to carry Yooka...

If flight isn't an ability that can be used all the time, why have it at all? Perhaps we should just have a flying transformation instead, a bit like the bee from the Banjo games.

Flying in Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie was really fun! :D It was awesome to see the levels from so high, having a whole new perspective. And it never felt "broken" to me, since you had to use specific pads on the ground to activate it. I really hope we can fly around the levels in Yooka Laylee as well!

I am doubtful that a tiny bat could keep a large beast for more than a few seconds.
