A little piece of clothing to fit certain levels?

Postby GenoPuppet » Thu May 07, 2015 2:51 am

Let me start by saying I love the character design I'm not here to say my ideas are better than theres and I know some maybe even most people strongly don't want our new heroes to have any clothing but I thought it would be cool that even they go to a new level they might wear a small piece of clothing to fit the mood.

For example in the snow world how about Yooka wears a colored (I was thinking brown but that doesn't fit his color scheme) coat with a fluffed collar and Laylee could wear a small scarf that would blow in a certain wind direction.

Not for all levels but for some.

I don't know am I asking for too much or for something no one else wants?

I don't think this is a good idea. It takes away some of the recognizably of the characters. What if banjo wore clothes in different levels. The yellow shorts wouldn't be an icon because it would change.

What I do think is appropriate are very tiny changes. In a snow map for instance maybe yooka could wear earmuffs. That would be neat. In a desert level maybe yooka could have a small water bottle. They have to be very minimalistic changes. It can't be a coat or sombrero. I think the clive game looks to tacky with the whole costume changes.

Conker does it and it works just fine.

I like their designs; they don't need clothes.

One concern I have though is that the blue and red minions also do not have clothes. Is this going to turn out to be the same for all characters? I don't want the game looking generic, which is how characters without clothes often look. On the contrary, lots of characters in the Banjo games had some type of distinguishing clothing, such as Klungo's lab jacket and Grunty's hat/scarf etc.

It worked in conker with the gas mask and army camouflage. Wasn't needed in BK.

That's a good point there was much less Dana Carvey in BK.

I don't want clothing ruining my stealth abilities, unless the clothing provides a trade off ability.
