Just noticed something

The £15 backing option for getting a download code for a console version of your choice doesn't list anything about getting your name in the special thanks. Does it just go without saying, or do those £13k+ people go unthanked!

"Special thanks in the Yooka-Laylee credits" – what does it even imply ? That 50k names are supposed to be listed in the game credits ?

Yes, the names will all be listed in the credits.

Small font + huge block of text instead of a normal list (think a paragraph instead of a list) + fast scroll speed. I've seen it done before, it's really not bad.

I haven't backed yet, I wonder does it get your name off of your credit card? Or do you just type it in?

All reward tiers come with the special thanks in the credits; Playtonic confirmed it last night.

I presume you type the name you want into a box? I've never backed a Kickstarter prior to Yooka-Laylee, but I've read on the Kickstarter FAQs that delivery addresses/names etc. are collected via a form after a campaign ends.

They could either use the name from the profiles, or other Kickstarters have sent out an email to all backers with a submission form where you enter what name you want in. If they go that route I hope they also parse all the names to remove people who will inevitably enter vulgar words as their name.

Although I made my pledge, I don't really see the point of being given a credit, because our individual names aren't notable to the development of the game (except for those who pledged for the "be in the game" option). I think it would be more convenient to just include a note saying e.g. "a special thanks to everyone who backed us on Kickstarter". Everyone who pledged would still recognise that.

I'm going to guess that Playtonic will have one of the Kickstarter reward survey questions be "What name would you like us to use for you in the game's credits?". In the event someone submits a name that they can't put in the credits (for example, obscenities), they could probably fall back to the name on the Kickstarter profile.

That's how most of the Kickstarter campaigns I've backed with a credit as part of the reward have handled it.
