Yooka-Laylee should be its own game with its own feeling. It shouldn't try to be like Banjo-Kazooie, it shouldn't try to be like Donkey Kong, it should be like Yooka-Laylee.

Hmm...idunno, even though Kazooie did most of the footwork for me and had the best moves in B-K, you had to look at and perform interactions with Banjo most of the time. Making the bottom character female could be empowering to women! :D

I do think it's too late to make such a change, if they did so now, it would end up being perceived by most as checking off some sort of box regarding gender-related issues, rather than being for any potentially legitimate reason.

Since the characters' genders should not have any effect on the gameplay or story or even their personalities (except to a very small degree that would be insignificant if their genders were swapped), I can't see any real, valid reason for changing them at this point.

Honestly, I was quite surprised to see that so many people want Yooka to be female and Laylee to be male. When I first saw the characters, I wasn't sure what their genders would be. The Kickstarter page answered that question and I haven't really thought about it since.

I still don't understand what the difference would be though, so... swap em, and then? In the end what does it matter?

It would be just strange to change their genders now, it holds no purpose other than a few people who want to see it that way whatsoever.

I think that is why people don't like to see these things changed, it's such a triffling matter. That and we just have to believe Playtonic will do things their way as they are the developers in the end.

I couldn't care less about their gender, but we now have an image in our mind of the hero's. We get accustomed to this. It would be plain weird to swap their genders in the end.

A running gag of gender ambiguity/confusion would be hilarious!

Funny that was bought up. I never thought of tails being a girl when I first saw him. Not that it would have stopped me playing it.
