They look in a newspaper and find "Adventurers wanted for a brilliant expedition. Only £20."

Turns out to be a tree top rope course.

Yooka got scolded by his mother, for he never plays outside (He only plays FPS games all day long) so mama gave him a book, Yooka got mad and ripped the book appart. As a punishment he has to find all the pages that blew away together with his pet-bat. Only when he has found all pages back he is allowed to have dinner once more.

Big corporate boss (main villain) takes Classic 3D Platformer hostage and plans to destroy it for good. With all past heros shelved to collect dust Yooka and laylee are the only ones left who can save the day.

Yooka and Laylee have a concert/convention to be at but don't have a ride.

Yooka lost the pages of his novel/homework/work papers and has to traverse multiple worlds to reclaim them.

Yooka and Laylee live in a magical book world and a sadistic writer is tearing out pages of their world and writing in minions and other unpleasant things to harass the characters with.

*Insert dramatic trailer voice.

The earth is in recline, materials are scarse.
The last trees are to be cut, and the last bit of electricity is about to be used.
In a post-apocalyptic world Yooka and Laylee will have to work together to get the last bit of paper left in the world, to write all knowledge of the last Milenium down on 100 sheets of paper and save the world of human demise.
In an all out battle Yooka and Laylee will face many enemies and MANY hardships.
Featuring explosions, and other less significant special effects by Michael Bay.
It a love tale about working together and killing things, destroying things, just to save other less important stuff no one really seems to care about... All for the feeling of being holier then thou.

Playtonic is working together with Green Peace to bring you a message. It's a message about peace, and the good of being naked. Don't hurt your pets by letting them wear silly suits.

Feauturing every color of the whole spectrum visible by human eyes, and nature sounds. Breakthough real life gameplay that will simulate the life of a chameleon jumping platforms and climbing trees, being able to absorb the lifelike properties of a rock... and a bat. While on top of a chameleon... drinking PlayBooze for enhanced abilities. And tongueflipping, lots of it.

Yooka and laylee: Last nights' treebender at the apocalypse museum now: Reloaded

Yooka and Laylee have been caught in a sex scandal and now they have to transverse the different world to remove all evidence in their XXX "adventure".

The duo travels the World to gather all the plant material they need to provide Laylee with medications. Indeed, because of heavy drinking, the batgirl developed rosacea which caused her bulbous, ruddy nose to swell.

Well... Timmy Turner just stole the first two worlds in the game the books (with googly eyes) already have some pagies so Yooka and laylee have to recover 2 pagies to open the first world and 7 for the second one.

He might have actually stolen Yooka's t-shirt and pink cap... but you will have to find that out throughout the game.

I not sure, but I'll assume the basic components of a story developed by Playtonic are what led them to select "Pagies" as the main collectable.

But if not, what the hey ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, I'll drop my hat in.

What if they have an overdue library fee(to a ridiculous degree). Someone(main antagonist?) actually randomly(like phone-book prank call style) chose to pose as them(because they couldn't check it out due to already owing the library $money$) to check out the (magical/spell)book(s) with the intention to never return it[How dastardly!!!*Gasp!*].
They're on a quest to clear their name and get the fee waived by the (ancient)library headmaster(who's oooooooooooold) resulting in a convoluted method to reach him/her due to the lack of popularity(or secrecy) this library has and the fact that the headmaster only gets a visit about every millennia or so.

During a joyride, Yooka-Laylee total Donkey Kong's car, and now have to sell timeshares for him to all the forest critters to pay off the damages.

The real estate business took its toll on poor Yooka. If he could only get his hands on those Glengarry leads...but those leads, as he knows--like coffee--are for closers.
