Yooka successfully funds his own game on Lickstarter (in this universe, when a motor engine doesn't work, one tries licking it to get it working, even if they don't have an extendable tongue). The only problem is, the game goes 300% over it's goal limit in the first hour, surpassing all of the stretch goals, and Yooka is forced to come up with a new goal right on the spot. Without thinking, he promises that his composer, Leylee, will write a follow up to Hit Song that defined a generation, My City 5 from the hit game Cityville 2:

The only catch is, Leylee was never told he was going to have to write My City 6, as Yooka called it. Now, Yooka must help Leylee collect 3,000 Pagies, so he can write My City 6 with the same planning and precision he did with the predecessor.

Ok, I'm really glad people are contributing but you guys really don't seem to get the loose spirit of this discussion. You aren't bound by the constraints of the project's premise. This isn't for discussing how you think the gameplay or plot *SHOULD* unfold (there're several of those threads already). It's for parody and deconstruction.

The duo must travel through several realms and collect the pagies in order to give them back to a flying book named Crooko, who will help them to save the sister.

Yooka & Laylee want to revamp a bunch of traditional fairy tales, due to their obsession with crossovers and "who would win?" scenarios and go to town with it.

On a more serious note, I wonder if something about that early Banjo-Kazooie idea about a giant capturing the hero's girlfriend and stuffing her in his castle might steer the direction of this game? It actually kinda makes sense, given the storybook nature.
