So Nintendo NX, what should Playtonic do?

As you might know, today Nintendo announced the possible Wii U successor codenamed Nintendo NX, this is likely a 2017 console and Project Ukulele won't release anytime soon so should Playtonic speak to Nintendo about this? Should they push the Wii U version or should they think about marketing PU with the NX if it releases in 2017?

I don't think we'll actually see the NX in stores until 2018 to be honest. console life cycles are usually around 6 years, the wii U while still underperforming next to the other consoles is beginning to gain some ground with some fantastic titles being released at a steady pace. Nintendo has to stick it out with the wii U as long as it can to show faith in their product. As for Playtonic, if the NX were to come around the time Project ukulele releases I can't see the harm in them releasing the game for both the wii u and the NX.

The Wii U will have a 5 year cycle, which is fine since it will be the same as every Nintendo system other then Wii.

I'd love if the Wii U could do 6 years but even I know that's not realistic anymore.

You gotta take into account that Unity 5 is not able to export games to unknown platforms, and won't be for a very long time, so I don't see how it's possible.

At best I think that the NX may be retrocompatible, and that you'll be able to play any digital games that you bought on the Wii U on it.

It would be cool if they were able to get a game ready for the launch of it. Add some star power to the line up.

Who said that the Nintendo NX don't have an Eshop?
Nintendo is always downgradable since Wii (only the old Wii) and that is fantastic.

Now let the new console arrive and maybe you can play WiiU games on the new console, too.

But I havn't read about it yet so, I don't know much about the new console.

I think we'll need to wait and see. People have Wii U consoles at the moment, so what would probably be the best move would be to go for Wii U and current platforms, then port a version from PS4, PC or Xbox to the new Nintendo if it's specs match up.

I've thought about this too! I'd say put it on both Wii U and NX and sell even more millions of copies!

We don't know if the NX will be a home console. It could be a handheld, or even a third pillar that's a tablet, VR headset, or something else entirely.

I think they should see it as a potential platform, while I don't think it is the Wii U sucessor (or at least not just the Wii U), even being a sucessor to the 3DS it will probably support Unity and if it releases holiday 2016/early 2017 I think it is exactly around the projected launch date for Ukelele.

If it is ready before the NX release it on the Wii U, but when the NX comes out, make a remastered version with a stop-n-swap gimmick that no one would figure out for years!!!
