You hit the nail on the head with the "trying to do the impossible" attitude. A modern example where I still try to do that sometimes is Mario Kart 8. Though the scenery is so appealing, I know I won't actually get to explore it. But maybe, if I could somehow slip past Lakitu... There's actually a glitch in Mario Kart Wii's track Maple Treeway where if you fall off the track in a certain way, you can actually explore along the ground for a little. When I first heard of it, it blew my mind. It didn't have very good collision detection or anything, but it was amazing that it happened at all when I was used to the idea of everything off the track being off-limits. If they could inspire a kind of paradigm shift like that in Yooka-Laylee, that would be pretty great.
